New Star Wars live stage show coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios this Spring

This is pure rumour but I did read somewhere quite a while ago (way before the Star Wars fireworks were announced) that it was likely that many of Hollywood Boulevard trees would be removed or replaced in order to facilitate better views of the fireworks, therefore I wouldn't rule that out. Deja-vu of the Magic Kingdom?
I really, really, REALLY hope that is not true. What happened at the Magic Kingdom is easily one of the biggest mistakes Disney has ever made in all of their 60 history of theme parks. Shame on them if they make the same mistake again here.

...really? Not DCA 1.0, Euro Disney, Stitch's Great Escape, or Chester & Hester's, but removing trees in front of the castle is one of the biggest mistakes?

They already removed the tall palms in front of the Chinese theatre.

Ok, here's what I think. I would put it above Stitch's Great Escape but below Chester and Hester's. Its also not anywhere near as bad as DCA 1.0. But unlike DCA 1.0, we still have a treeless central hub. I was using a bit of hyperbole to describe its affects, but I would still consider it to be one of the worst things to happen to the Magic Kingdom. However, the worst things that have happened to the Magic Kingdom are nowhere near what has happened or will happen in the other U.S. parks.

Most likey the trees were removed because of the projections coming with the new pyro show this summer. Do we want Disney to Move forward or not?!?!?!?!?
They're able to project on the castle at Disneyland with very large trees in the hub. Remember, the distance from the entrance to the Chinese Theater is the exact same as the distance between the train station and Sleeping Beautiat Castle at Disneyland.

Hmm...that is debatable
How is this debatable? Sure I love how they put new trees along the rim, but the center of the hub is even worse than before now that it doesn't even have bushes. Overall, I think the hub expansion succeeded at what it needed to do. It just bugs me that while somethings were greatly improved upon, other things were either unecesarily changed like the lighting, left stagnant like the castle stage, and made worse like the central hub.

oh ok...so trees only count to you if they are placed in the center part of the hub...the trees in the second ring do not count...ok, got it...i missed that part.

I said I liked the trees around the ring of the hub, but I think its even more important for the center to have large trees. The build up to the castle from Main Street relied on them to give depth. Nowadays with No trees, no benches, and no curbs, the central hub is just a large barren space that fails to serve the purpose that it was intended to have.

Were replaced with these trees in mid-February:

The trees infront of the Chinese Theater are still there and will probably remain. They are present the the concept art for the fireworks show.

intentions change as the hub serves a different purpose today. Based on the shows they currently do most likely continue to do, there was no chance of them ever putting trees back into the center of the hub. None. Zero.

The original intention of the hub is no longer the current intention. And based on the new intentions, the hub has been adapted accordingly.

The poster said "center" of the hub. When referring to the center then yes it has no bushes or trees and it looks awful, especially during the daytime.

That's wonderful, and that's totally fine. The outside rings looks spectacular and the trees with with the lights really add charm but the center feels dead, and it is all for the sake of more people being able to watch a projection show.

To me the center doesn't look or feel dead. But I understand people will have different opinions. And I understand that large trees in the center of the hub wouldn't make sense if they want to continue to do projection shows. I like those shows and would take them over a few trees in the center of the hub. However, I do get that people would take trees over projection shows.
