Sure anywhere else it is a tragedy, but if it happen at a Disney park, it is tragic AND a public relations nightmare. While I don't like being searched at the airport (this is the real "look we're doing something" kind of prevention) or at Disney I can understand the need for Disney to take increasing measures.
I just hope they increase the amount of cast members and locations handling entry, so the time to get through the check is not increased too much.
Last year during the Stanley Cup finals in Tampa, some guy brought a gun into the stadium. It fell out of his pants in the Men's Room. Of course he was detained and removed. As of opening day of the NHL this year, every stadium has walk through metal detectors and all bags must still be checked. It has drastically increased the time required to get through the turnstyles. This isn't to protect anyone against a determined terrorist, but it could stop an unstable individual from opening fire in the crowd. It makes more sense than just bag checks if stopping a random gunman is the objective.
