This is from another website i was reading from. i paste the article A couple of interesting rumors popped up during my research trip over the weekend. First up, there's a hot rumor circulating that George Lucas will make an appearance at some point during Star Wars Weekends (the final weekend has been mentioned a lot, but nothing is certain) while he visits to take a look at progress on Star Tours 2.0. It's likely that the reinvigorated development for a new version of the attraction is linked to Disney's attempt to convince Lucas to let them broadcast the upcoming live-action Star Wars-based television series (Warner Brothers won the battle to show the "Clone Wars" series.)
The second rumor is that, following the use of the old Hunchback theater at the Streets of America backlot for the Star Wars Weekend talk show events, it will be reconverted to house a Nightmare Before Christmas-based dark ride, as seen on the Disneyland and More blog (link). If this comes to pass, it will complement not only Disney's Christmas offering, but the more intense Halloween after-hours event they are trying to push for the Studios. In addition, it would help the transition of Grad Nite events to the Studios.
The final rumor involves space adjacent to Toy Story Mania. This one says that there will be a Cars-themed attraction there in time for the release of Cars 2 in 2012.
Those are rumors, not confirmed, so take them for what they're worth.

Very, Very Interesting. I am not getting too excited because there are a lot more rumors than the truth but for right now I would go for anything at DHS.

I'm noticing that the rumors for the Hunchback Theater are stretching on both sides of the spectrum...I've heard more rumors that it's just going to be a stage area where they can host concerts and special events...others that it's going to be a dark ride....but all of the rumors seem to be geared towards making the park more acceptable to teens, esp. for Grad Nite.

It'll be interesting to see which way the rumors go.

As for Pixar Place...it's not so much a place right now since there is only one resident...:lookaroun I know it just opened...but it'll be nice when it gets another attraction!

As far as Star Tours goes I am sure Good Ole George will screw this one up.

I just can't believe Disney would ever build a 50-100 million dollar attraction just to boost attendance for Grad Nights and ticketed Halloween events. It makes no business sense to me. Sorry but I am just not believing the whole NBC rumor especially for the building formerly known as "Hunchback". Not that I wouldn't like to see the ride built but I would be suprised. Very suprised!

More likely is you would see the Alien or Tarzan scene removed from GMR and NBC going in there.

(all opinions are my own and do not reflect on or share the opinions of the proprieters of WDWMagic most of the time :hammer:)

I'm just glad that there is so much hype and some additons/improvements going on at DHS. I love the atmosphere and welcome excuses to spend more time there.

It isn't an attempt to "boost" attendence at Grad Night, but to move Grad Night away from Magic Kingdom. If it moves, than MK doesn't have to close at 7pm, allowing more families to spend more time in the more popular park.

As far as the Halloween Hard Ticket, Disney needs something. Universal rules the month of October because of HHN. With the quality of that event (arguably) going down-hill, Disney has an opportunity to pull people away from it. Unfortunately, they need another franchise to capitalize on. Twilight Zone isn't enough (if they could even get the rights).

As much as I would love to see a Haunted Magic Kingdom (complete with Frontierland becoming a ghost town and Tomorrowland being invaded by aliens), MGM has the potential to directly compete with Uni.

Do you appreciate the irony in a Star Trek reply to a Star Wars post? :lookaroun
I love me some irony.....and I could not find an image of a SW character in the same pose

More than anything I m just sick of the whole George Lucas ruined Star Wars arguments.

The former Hunchback theater has been converted into an enclosed theater, not a ride building. They have it set to be used for the many visiting events that require stages, such as Music Days, Cheerleading etc.

I agree! I would love to seea NBC ride, and I think theres a high possibility of one. DHS in general draws a lot of teen and "fright-lovers" with TOT, but it needs something else. Disney would be a good competor with HHN if they perhaps built that ride, and started doing some more fun stuff with TOT, like they did with the grand opening of TOT in Paris, with shows and characters in costumes.

just my thoughts, as a teen though.

Disney is not trying to capture the youth market Universal targets with HHN.

I agree...If you look at the Franchises that they have been focusing on they are more geared towards the younger children and tweens age groups. I'm not saying that they can't change there marketing strategy, I just feel right now they are gearing there development towards the younger groups( Toy story/Pixar, Hannah Montana...)

They would love to, though.

When I worked HHN back in 2002, the managment at Universal was expecting Disney to go into it. It is still expected. Disney loses too much possible income by not capitalizing on it. They have the franchises that could be used for a scary event (NBC, Twilight Zone if they get event rights, Pirates, HM, Villians), but they haven't really had the logistics for it (or the need). However, with Grad Night and Nights of Joy shifting to DHS, they are starting to establish a logistical support for it at a place other than MK.

Disney IS trying to capture that youth market. They didn't add Jack Sparrow for you.

While I always wished George Lucas would make an appearance at Star Wars Weekends, I don't see this happening. He hardly even makes appearances at the big Star Wars Celebrations.

As for Star Tours 2.0 (or as I like to call it, Star Tours Episode II :)) that would be cool if they finally announced it at SWW (they did say expect some surprises, then again, they say that every year for SWW).

As for Disney trying to make good with GL for the TV show, I don't doubt Disney keeping an eye on that property, but since FOX gets the right of refusal, I wonder how quick they would be to pass the live-action series up. So I don't know about that.
