Is Nintendo at EU going to be just Mario-ish stuff like in Japan? I thought the plan was to do other Nintendo properties in the other parks (eg Zelda in IOA) so each one would basically be a single IP land. IOW more like Cars Land and Toy Story Land vs Pixar Pier.

Okay but Donkey Kong is part of the Mario “universe”, no? I mean wasn’t it Mario dodging barrels in the original game?
I think Donkey Kong from the original game is actually Cranky Kong, but yes, he’s typically considered to be part of the Mario universe and is allowed to appear in the base roster of games generally restricted to the Mario cast, like Mario Kart.

Link is in MK, too, so let’s add Hyrule to Epic Universe!

If DAK is a half day park for a guest, they don’t like animals.

And if single IP lands belong anywhere, it’s DHS. I may take issue with some of the content, but they absolutely should have built a Star Wars land at DHS, for example.

I feel like star wars should have been its own gate instead. I mean think of all that they could have done with that making it its own theme park and destination. Instead of shoehorning into a park that has a footprint way too small to handle the crowds and capacity.

Its a bit jumbled. Donkey Kong has always been Donkey Kong, its Mario that was renamed from "Jumpman" and there wasnt a Princess Peach, but rather his girlfriend Pauline. Donkey Kong brought about Mario, not the other way around.

For better or for worse, the addition of Galaxy's Edge has not strained the infrastructure of DHS in the way that was anticipated.

You're right that Star Wars has the potential to fill a whole park, and it would be amazing to see what they'd do with that, but the truth is that Walt Disney World can't bear a fifth gate. People don't suddenly get more time and money to spend on a vacation just because there's more to see, as every new park in Orlando has proved in the last 25 years.

Personally, I'm at the point where I'd much rather see WDW get all 4 parks thriving and bustling with things to do before seeing them build a another new gate that once again cannibalizes guests from every park that isn't a Magic Kingdom.

The problem with the single IP lands? If you’re not a big fan, you probably ride the rides and then move on to the next place, skipping shops, shows, and restaurants. This could be why half day park status still exists for DAK and the Studios.
I don’t necessarily agree. I’m no fan of Cars and only a mild fan of Potter, but I’d happily spend all day in the lands based on either. On the other hand, I absolutely love the MCU and Toy Story, but those lands are garbage. A good IP land requires a source with an appealing, ideally fairly varied, aesthetic. It doesn’t require a strong narrative, intelligent dialogue, or nuanced characterization, elements often integral to the enjoyment of a film or TV series.

For all the talk Imagineering likes to do about the importance of story, what really is tantamount in this medium is the experience.

Most people go their whole lives never learning the name of even a single Pirate of the Caribbean (Jack Sparrow notably excepted in this day and age), and 50+ years in the attraction is as popular as ever. Because, really, the experience of sailing through a Caribbean port as a bunch of Pirates ransack it is far more engaging than their names, their motivations, their backstory . . . getting guests into an exciting situation has greater experiential impact than trying to track a story plot with truncated character arcs squeezed into 3-12 minutes.

People don't go to Walt Disney World to see something happen to someone else, they go to have something happen to themselves.
