New rope drop process at MK

What is wrong with people?
You want the whole list, or just the Top 10?

Basically it comes down to people think they are entitled because they paid a boatload for their vacation and they are more deserving that you.

One time a few years back this guy was going to challenge me to a fight in the que leading to the HM. He said I was 'cutting him' - meanwhile, there was no line, we were all walking to the main entrance and we would all get to the foyer and the stretching room at the same time.

When you read the threads about bad behavior in the parks it is amazing to see/hear how rude, argumentative, crass, mean, demeaning and childish people can be.

Funny how The Happiest Place on Earth(TM) can also bring out the worst in people.

I can see hot days, toting challenging kids, etc. might make someone... Grumpy. But c'mon. Sadly, you're right though; the bad behavior in the parks knows no bounds, seemingly. And that's not even including certain tour groups.

Yeah.. it's like Spiker said, people feel entitled. This has always almost been the case recently. I luckily didn't have any issues this last trip (Got back yesterday) with people. But I didn't have to deal with many parents cause I stayed away from Fantasyland for the first 4 hours of opening... it was great not dealing with ANYONE in the other areas of the park due to Frozen.

As for Merchendise.. I didn't see it flying off the shelves when I was at MK on Friday. Plenty of Olaf shirts, movies, CDs, and candy hanging out when I was in the stores.

...balloons however. Anna and Elsa balloons were sellin like hotcakes at a county fair morning

Except you can meet the Fab 5 at a lot of places throughout the parks and resorts. At the moment, you can meet Anna & Elsa ONLY at the Magic Kingdom.
That's the problem. They need to be added elsewhere asap. Add them to the CRT meal, Akershus meal, or give them their own character meal, and they should have kept the M&G at Epcot as well. Winnie the Pooh has a M&G at both MK & Epcot, and they have their own character meal at MK, so I don't see the problem with doing the same for Anna & Elsa.

This was always my favorite. HM, Laugh Floor and the like, people would just line up single file with plenty of space in front and around them. Even when CMs would announce to please fill in all available space, no one moves. My DW and would just walk on up the door and into the attraction. We would get a couple looks but too bad for you if you are clueless.

With how popular M&Gs can be, I am surprised the WDW doesn't have more than what they do. They need more w/ rare charcters and villians etc. A&E M&G is popular because of Frozen and that they are different characters that you can meet. No offense but he fab 5 (as well as some princesses) have been done to death. Look at the M&G popularity of Merida, Rapunzel, and Tiana and those movies grossed no where near what Frozen did. Look at draw of Star War weekends, and the Parties. People of all ages love getting pics with charaters and go crazy when they can see a rare one or ones that aren't available all year.

A&E should be available at DHS, EP, and MK. DHS at Animaton building or streets of America. EP, demote Belle for awhile to her blue dress walking around the dining room and have A&E as the picture opportunity when you enter.

The funny thing is, this whole fixed meet and greet and character attendants (aka bodyguard) thing is strictly an American implementation. I couldn't believe it when I went to Tokyo Disneyland and saw characters free roaming without attendants.

You know why? Because as much as Japanese people love the characters they're not freaking idiotic enough to get into a fistfight over who's kid was there first. They're patient and they wait and it's a beautiful thing. Every single one of these imbeciles should take a lesson from Japanese people on how to CORRECTLY approach a character meet and greet and get over it.

California has characters roaming too. In fact even Anna and Elsa walk to their meet and greet in Fantasyland from Frontierland.

I will miss the mad dash into the park- How else can I be first in line for my turket leg and Dole Whip? ;)

Maybe they should just supply the CM's lining Main Street with goofy's shoes and let them trip up the front runners. That aughta slow 'em down a tad!

Seriously though, I feel bad for the CM's that are these characters. You know they are hating their jobs right about now. How many Anna's and Elsa's do they have? Surely it can't be just the two of them.

Much more than just two of them. When they are meeting at the Fairytale Hall there is 2 sets of Anna and Elsa. So that's 4 already. Then they still meet while the parade is on so that is at least 6 in one day.

Also they will do other characters too, although they may not be at the moment as there is seemingly a lack of Anna and Elsas.

And I'm pretty sure they are not hating their jobs. Being a character performer is a dream job to a lot of people.

There is a one to one attendant to character ratio in Tokyo though you may not always see them. I will say the Japanese give elbow room and back off when another guest gets a picture, unlike Paris where no one backs off Paris has resorted to queuing though as a "test"

It's more complicated than you think but, stay tuned. ;)

Oh nice. So for those of us who want no part of A&E what is the best way to avoid the craze at rope drop? We already have our FP's for 7DMT but want to go straight to that ride on at least one RD at MK just so we can go through the regular line and see everything. I don't want our group to get caught up in the A&E M&G.

Walk to the hub, turn right and walk towards tea party.

I think it has a lot to do with the heavy local demographic and many of the tourists being asian, which as stated before can be some of the politest and respectful towards characters.
Another idea that came to mind may be the length that characters can be on set. In Orlando, heat and humidity reduce set times during the summer days compared to when it is cooler out. Orlando is probably the hottest disney resort location, though Hong Kong is in a similar temperature range.
These two ideas may be completely unrelated to the actual reason characters started to receive set locations with queues and attendants.
