New rope drop process at MK

I wonder why they dont do a variant to prevent accidents?
Aka make the M&M line outside the rope line, then have the CMs and Elsa (or Anna) pick them up with a group of CMS and then they all walk while Anna/Elsa chats with the guests in a "conga line" to the M&M.
so they all can see Elsa or Anna as they move to the M&M

On paper that would be great but it would not work in reality as people will be pushing and shoving to get attention and if Elsa was to not speak to everyone some parents would complain and get angry etc. Would be more chaotic.

While that would be cool, there's also a big potential for a mob scene if some people let their enthusiasm override their good behavior. Part of the reason for set meet & greets in buildings is to establish a safe place for the characters to lessen the chance of unruly guest behavior.

which is a shame.. seems all parks's shows, perks and attractions are restricted and done by taking priority on what THE WORST the park visitors can do.
including mobs/entitled people.

Does the amount of people in line at the Town Square M&G when the rope drop in the morning go down now that everybody run to the Frozen M&G? Surprise if parents do not want to meet the Fab 5 first as you enter the park.

Except you can meet the Fab 5 at a lot of places throughout the parks and resorts. At the moment, you can meet Anna & Elsa ONLY at the Magic Kingdom.

Wait, people in costumes?? :jawdrop:

Now, now...
Settle down kids.
The Non Believers don't know that they're talking about.
We all know that those aren't regular people in costumes.
They're really the characters themselves.
I know all of the characters at Disney are real because The Tooth Fairy told me while I was having a tooth pulled at the Dentist several years ago.
I go through this argument with my kids every year.
Somehow they got the notion that Disney was faking us out.
You'd think that a forty two, and a thirty seven year, old would have learned by now that everything at Disney 100% real.
Also.....
We've decided to avoid the Rope Drop this trip because of the insanity over Frozen.
It's a good movie but it's not worth getting trampled by several thousand fans.

I witnessed this same mad dash at Disneyland 2 weeks ago. We were directly at the rope at rope drop and before 10am hit, a CM came down the line explaining to everyone where the rope would drop first and that guests were expected to WALK to their destination (and they stressed the word WALK!) Well, they started to drop the rope on one side and as soon as they did, people on that end started SPRINTING towards Fantasyland. Other people (mind you these were grown adults) began lifting up the rope if it hadn't been pulled back at their area, went under it and took off running. CMs were SCREAMING at these folks to walk and no one listened. Parents were nailing people with strollers, dragging kids by their hands. I put a little hustle on, but I didn't run. When I got in line, a CM marched right up to the group of folks in front of the line who had been running for the lives that they had every right to escort them ALL out the park at that very moment because of what they had just done. These people didn't even care. All I can say is, if a child had fallen, they would've been trampled. I have never seen anything like it in my life. I was so shocked at the behavior I had just witnessed. It's a meet and greet for crying out loud! Hopefully they institute some type of rope drop thing like this at DLR. Otherwise someone is going to get hurt.

That would be a recipe for disaster. The second Anna and Elsa came anywhere near the main entrance there would be a mad dash for them and no amount of character attendants/Cast Members could keep it from happening. I'm also sure that a fight would break out amongst Guests at least once (I've seen it happen before for other coveted characters) because they were upset that their child (or themselves) did not get to walk up front with them to the M&G. The reason M&Gs are designed the way they are now is to keep the characters safe. This would totally counter that.

Yet again - I am confused. I thought FP+ was to eliminate the need to rush to an attraction???? But I will say this - I am not interested in the mad dash and as long as all those people run to see Frozen it will be lower lines on everything else.
It has not lowered the wait time in the rest of the park I hear.

Anna and Elsa do have FP+ but the amount distributed per hour is very low and just like reservations for Be Our Guest and Cinderella's Royal Table are gone 180 days in advance, they are gone 60 days in advance. The rush is for people who do not have a FastPass and are trying to get into the standby line before it gets absurdly out of hand.

People are also doing this for Anna and Elsa. They are booking reservations for Crystal Palace and Cinderella's Royal Table to get into the park before regular day guests and eating the cost of not showing up to their reservation in order to get up to Anna and Elsa before anyone else. This was also happening when they were still at Epcot.

So sad.....all to see somebody dressed up in a costume

I'm glad they are doing something to slow people down. I was there a few days after they arrived at MK it had rained the night before and people were falling all over the place and running into small children it was pure madness. I have to say I did enjoy the EMH with everyone lined up while my family and I got to enjoy the rest of the park almost by ourselves. It was actually so slow we kept running into the same family with a child my DD age over and over again.
