Pretty sure I mentioned this a while ago.

End of month clicks are down for CoreLESS, so he can pull this out and post it as an article totally devoid of any details and conjure speculation that all the rest of us are already aware of.

No
So (and this is probably a stretch), would Whirl bing down for who knows how long be an indicator that this land will take over Dinoland? In that they don't plan to do anything with it, because the wrecking ball is coming out anyway?

Really ??? :banghead:

Absolutely. Animal Kingdom is basically a perfect park themewise at the moment; adding Zootopia is completely out of place. It doesn't belong. Zootopia belongs in Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios. There are so many interesting things they could add to Animal Kingdom without ruining the theme.

It's a Six Flags mindset and Disney parks are supposed to be better than that.

That is some of the speculation. IF the new E Ticket is coming to Dino land area, that would explain the removal of primeval whirl(first due to mechanical or safety issue, 2nd due to re-IP of area).

It has been mentioned here by a few insiders that Dino land was being looked at longer term for a refurbishment, although I think last I remember most had it just getting polished not changed.

I also remember not too awful long ago there was some rumors of Indy land going in this area and a change to Dinosaur.

which to me also begs the question, if a new E ticket is going into Dinoland under a new IP, what happens to Dinosaur?

Dino was being tested last year for something, right(?) (remember the mounted infared cameras on the ride vehicles?)
Just to reply to this, someone stated that it was just a prototype of a rider safety rig. I don't think I'll ever be able to find the post, but it was claimed the cameras were a way to track whether or not all of the riders remained in the vehicle, i.e. if someone got out of the ride and somehow didn't activate a seatbelt alarm, this camera system would flag a passenger exiting the vehicle and E-stop the ride.

If whoever posted this could take credit, by all means do it. I don't know if it's true -- but it made a lot more sense to me than some of the wilder rumors claiming it was going to help integrate VR, or something else along those lines.

Thanks for that. Must've missed it while I was scrolling the 1100 pages of gondola death scenarios for the last 10 months.

Zootopia in Animal Kingdom would be worse than Guardians of the Galaxy in Epcot theme-wise.

EDIT: Re-worded myself for clarity.

It works as a separate land at the back of the park. I absolutely think they could angle a new Zootopia land where Nick and Judy are on a mission of conservation. They could easily come up with a story after the events of the first film that puts the rainforest habitat shown in the film in jeopardy and have the land illustrate their steps in saving it. It could rely on South American tones for theming.

“Agents Nick and Judy save the day, and here is how you can too!”

This is WDI and Rhode we are talking about. There are ways.

However, the only way it works is if we keep the Dino’s.

If they're spending money on Zootopia that means they're probably not spending it elsewhere. I would rather have nothing now and get something better later. If Zootopia is a go, then the hope of something better goes down.
Something Better Later never happens... you can put that right up next to the "Phase 2" ideas that also never happen...It will just be something else later... That is the unfortunate part.
