Something Better Later never happens... you can put that right up next to the lefty "Phase 2" ideas that also never happen...It will just be something else later... That is the unfortunate part.

Yeah, you might be right. I'd probably still pick "something else" over Zootopia, though.

Just had a thought 2024...that lines up well with the avatar movies coming up. Pandora expansion?

I still think we are getting zootopia (which I’m happy with) but that pandora expansion makes more and more sense with that timing.
Pandora Expansion? I would be surprised if that ever happens...The franchise is all but dead... Not saying the ride isn't fun or that they did a bad job with the park addition... But they have been talking about a sequel for like a decade now.. Heck, the sequel was supposed to be released with the opening of the theme park attraction....which dragged on forever and they still couldn't get the film made... I would put that one right up there with the Haunted Mansion sequel we never got.

If they're spending money on Zootopia that means they're probably not spending it elsewhere. I would rather have nothing now and get something better later. If Zootopia is a go, then the hope of something better goes down.
We have no clue if it is a Zootopia land or not but people are jumping on the bandwagon for some odd reason.

I would love that! Of course I also want them to finish the River Journey (which I already enjoy) by adding a couple more minutes worth of journey to the ride (not gonna happen), add another screen or two to FOP to cut down on wait times (they did it for Soarin’) and add some outdoor animatronics and stuff that lights up when I touch it. Someone make all that happen please.

The next two sequels have finished principal photography. Avatar 2: The Way of Water (working title) is coming out December 17th 2021 (the post production will take forever on those movies of course) and will alternate December release dates with star wars after that for the rest of the decade. Like it or not, Disney fully owns Avatar now and intends to make it a big deal

Still working out the presentation kinks
I’m holding out hope that they’ve realized that whatever super secret thing they had planned was gonna be a let down so they are currently rushing to plus it as much as possible. They need a counter to the wave of bad news they’ve had this week.

lol more Zootopia talk... yay..?

Look, as all of us know (or at least should know) Zootopia is totally in the wrong direction for what is in general the most unique and compellingly themed park in Orlando. There isn't anything about Zootopia that does fit. To those that think it can, let me debunk your 'opinion.'

1. "Zootopia is about animals! It's not about humans!"

No, no it is not about animals. Zootopia us about human social issues. It exists in a world where nature is not existant; animals and everything that DAK celebrates do not exist, and have become what is essentially human society. There isn't any angle you can put on it.

2. "Zootopia could work, as long as it goes at the back of the park. Maybe it can replace Planet Watch."

No. You can't have a land that is set off to the side and only accessible by train. What you're essentially saying is that if we hide it, it won't ruin the rest of the park. The fact that we'd have to hide it means it doesn't fit. And no, it can't replace the facilities used for real animal care and important work suxh as that.

3. "There are ways to make Zootopia fit thematically. You can make Nick and Judy go on some conservation mission."

Double-no. There is no conservation in the world of Zootopia. There is no nature. "But they show a jungle and it has trees1!!!" that isn't nature, that's a tree. The 'intrinsic value to nature', and the circle of life, simply are not existant. Since animals are people, what conservation mission would this be? And what would they be saving animals from?

I was specifically told by someone working on the Shanghai version that it wasn't coming to AK maybe 6 months ago. It was being looked at for other parks and resorts, but not AK. Things change but that's what I know the plan was

I don't dislike Avatar at all... There has been too much time between movies to make it much of a thing... and it was not memorable enough to stay in the public consciousness. I look forward to seeing the new films, but don't really care either way...

I fully expect the sequels to kind of be built around the assumption you don't really care about Avatar 1 anymore. Like I wouldn't expect Jake Sully to really even have a large presence in the movie, there's a whole new cast of kids they are hoping will carry it. I think they'll really take the approach of "come see this brand new story set in the world of avatar" rather than playing into "all your favorite nav'i are back and blue-er than ever!"
