I'm sorry but I think this is a little disingenuous. To say that the GMR will be replaced by "a Disney IP" like it is just another cash grab to capitalize on some modern IP recently acquired and therefore not truly Disney. It is Mickey Mouse! Mickey Mouse- how do you get any more classic than that? I can't argue about SW or the changing of Epcot's focus, because you are right, that is a shift for sure, but do you really see the GMR becoming focused on Mickey Mouse somehow not Disney?
Surely Mickey Mouse is the ultimate Disney IP?

Oh of course it is a Disney IP, I was not saying otherwise, but the post I was replying to was claiming that by adding in IP the parks are becoming less "Disney". My point was that by making a ride about Mickey, even if it is an IP, seems to make the parks more Disney to me, and not less. I get how some guests cringe at adding more Star Wars or more Marvel, but cringing at more Mickey Mouse????

I like A Galactic Spectacular but this should be the main firework show adding in a Star Wars sequence, the music and sequencing is great. The opening is great, the sequences are perfect and I don't see how they could nail a better show. This show was sequenced better than Happily ever after and the music is 100 times better. This would be a great nighttime show.

Let's call it it a contraction of what it means to be Disney. From the Disney representation of Hollywood to the Disney presentation of Disney.

As for a Mickey Mouse ride itself, as a rabid fan all I can say is: hurrah and what took you so long! (But why at the expense of a classic, one quite central to a park's identity?)

I went through all 4 pages and didn't see this, so excuse me if I overlooked your post.....

That said, does this not seem like a potential add for the rebranding of the park to take a feel of the guests impressions of the concept? Current name "Disney's Hollywood Studios", new name "Disney's Movie Magic"??? The projection show could be showcasing what they intend to represent as it's not studios, but shows, rides, and experiences showcasing the massive IP offerings of Disney. That's not a bad thing if presented as well themed experiences, which they are building 2 lands for now.

I know nothing as far as facts goes on this. This is purely my conjecture based on what I'm seeing from this video and my opinion based on how Disney is IP'ing everything. Any insiders able to deny or "not deny" the potential?

I feel bad for saying this, but to be honest I thought this show was boring :( Probably not a popular opinion, but has it really come down to this now? From amazing fireworks / pyro / fountains / projection mapping nighttime spectacular (Disney Dreams!, anyone?) to an extended movietrailer, with some thrown in sentiment? If I wasn't such a big Disney fan I'd say it is little insulting to the guests. Not every show needs fireworks, but to project them onto the building at the end of the show is a bit cheap in my opnion. I believe we are allowed to expect a higher level of quality from Disney, especially in the - currently - least interesting park on property.

Wait a minute...

Disney announced this yesterday morning and it premiered last night? No big fanfare, no big marketing... just announcements in the park that day? Nevermind for an addition*?!

To say I'm suprised would be an understatement. I watched the video and it looks great. I particularly like the dedication quotes, Walt soundbites, and When You Wish Upon a Star. While the show isn't groundbreaking or incredibly unique, I think it's really good and fits the park well.

You got it. DHS, when it was D-MGM Studios was an active studio with tours of how movies (and TV) get made.

The studios are long gone. The MGM contract quickly dissolved. Anything that isn't owned by Disney has been or is currently being removed (and the last few non-Disney holdouts probably don't have a long shelf life left). Same with attractions about making movies, they're beings axed, too, one by one.

A name change for the park was confirmed by Iger. Most likely will happen once Toy Story and Star War Lands are finally open.

I agree.
If this was the nightime show with fireworks, I'd skip Fantasmic to see it,

"Disney Movie Magic" is a good pre-show to Galactic Spectacular. I do think this has a lot potential to be a main fireworks show down the road and I hope Disney gets a rid of Galactic Spectacular before Star Wars Land opens in 2019 at DHS.

I'm thinking if SWL opens summer 2019. AGS will stay till 2020. Or a new SW show. I can't imagine DHS not having a SW Spectacular with the just opening SWL.

I have to say I watched the show on YouTube a little while ago and I really enjoyed it. I think that it was well done. It really did remind me of the end of the GMR. Yea, you could say it was a long Disney Movies advertisement. However, I expect them to push their own movies a little more.
