Continuing a dive into the permit...
Starting with something else new we've learned (in addition to extra bathrooms!), the
pool will have a splash pad (yellow)! We know it's a splash pad because it's in the plan itself:
I thought it might be a pool bar similar to Oasis but it looks more Riviera-ish with need to exit the pool for a bar. Still, splash pad surprised me because this pool is not very far from the Lava pool and that has arguably the best splash pad on property. But maybe it shouldn't surprise because that splash pad is also often very busy. Difficult to tell exactly but the curvy part gives slide vibes, no?
The red space is a big fun question mark. There's no marked plumbing to indicate a bar space and no immediate kitchen space to indicate a quick service. I don't see retail here either, given the location. A community hall would be great, but this space would be huge for that so I'll say no (but... keep an eye out on the first floor space near the rooms, between the hall and parking lot, there's plenty of room for a community hall over there). While it could be any of these I'd still bet against. My speculative betting favorite here is something Polynesian doesn't have and something it pays out for guests to use: a gym. It seems like a big space for a gym, but it's arguably a "need" and something all Polynesian guests could use.
Moving on, there's nothing we couldn't have already guessed. Pool restrooms (purple) look to have showers, something I personally appreciate often swimming on my departure mornings. But showers next to a potential gym also makes a lot of sense.
Continuing with first floor, the obvious thing from renderings is a restaurant in the blue space with likely kitchen space in red. Quick service or table service? Unsure so I'll argue both sides. There what looks like a busing station behind a wall with with two entrance/exits toward the kitchen. It should be an elegant enough space with great views that some would say might be wasted on quick service. In theory, I'd guess table service can make more money per seat because it's more likely to attract guests just to dine more so than quick service.
And the quick service argument really only if you think Disney likes a hybrid quick service / lounge place. Think like Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge or Primo Piatto and Bar Riva combo at Riviera. A counter for quick service but a lounge side with table service. The entrance off the lobby (up top) has what reminds me of a cooler + counter space, and that gives me Riviera Primo Piatto-like grab and go vibes. Alternatively, it has quick service pickup counter + soda machine vibes. What I was saying could be a high wall with a bussing station could also be a small wall and counter for coffee and such, think like Riviera's Le Petit Cafe as a hybrid morning coffee bar and afternoon snack bar (sushi?). Then the blue question mark is a bar with lounge space near? Sorta like Primo Piatto and Bar Riva having different roles but sharing the same kitchen. Finally, some sort of quick service near the pool makes sense, unless folks are expected to walk to GCH.
Blue question mark has to be a bar. A bar that's double dury serving a pool and table service makes less sense than serving a lounge + pool (Geysar Point, Bar Riva).
So pros and cons both ways. We'll see. I keep flip flopping but currently leaning quick service + lounge after leaning table service yesterday.
Green is just off lobby right near likely dining. Maybe a waiting area? Maybe small retail for milk, bread, etc needed for folks in villas? Yellow supports bell services and includes the two service elevators. Purple is where we see dining restrooms.
Rest is less fun to speculate. Lobby (orange) here with porte cochere (purple). 4 passenger elevators (blue) and lobby restrooms (yellow). Biggest question here is the orange circled thing. The way it's drawn has look of something taller. At Coronado I'd say like pyramid stairs? At Polynesian, folks do miss the old lobby water features. That's my current hope just from the very little bit we see, but I realize that's thinking with my heart. The outside part, the swirly part, is also hard to decipher. Seems like itd be a water feature but it almost looks like doors drawn in near top?
Not pictured but there's a lot of likely backstage space near the rooms. Some could be used for a community hall. While it'd be great I'm not holding my breathe. But if it's going to exist I'd guess over there.
If you read this far through then bless your nerdy heart.
