I could see selling 150 points at the same price as 120 as a recession sales tactic...
Almost always new resorts have incentives as well if you buy x many points. It's usually a dollar amount. Those who have bought during slower times see better incentives. Add ons usually don't see this until about 125 or so points. If I add on only I won't get good deals as I already have 130 PVB and likely won't need more than 60 or 70 points. But if I buy new, I'll get them as I'll likely want about 200 at the new and they'll offer decent incentives at that point.

Welcome to Disney’s Grand Polynesian Village and Spa and Wedding Pavilion!
You do realize they've always been close and shared spa/gym facilities, right? This will still have a division between thanks to the wedding pavillion.

Of course honestly this makes me like the area more. Being near each other has always been a good perk. Making my GF trip feel nicer since we are neighbors.

This seems like it will really devalue the Wedding Pavilion. It's going to be almost right next to a resort tower. The GF Villas already messed that up to an extent, but at least it's the same style of architecture and the Pavilion is kind of facing away from them. I think the entrance side will now be looking straight at the new Polynesian tower. Not that I would have ever wanted to get married there anyways, but it would have been a lot more appealing when it was in a somewhat secluded location as opposed to one surrounded by hotels.

It'll really screw up the Seven Seas Lagoon overall too, but that was already a given.

Yes, I do realize this, especially since we usually stay in that area. Doesn’t mean that I agree with them building this.

Glad I just sold my two DVC properties. Poly was one of them. Does Disney really need more DVC? I mean people are complaining left and right about how mad they are about the way the company has been handling things lately, especially at the parks. Then I've read that Disney stock is down and Disney Plus has had a lot of cancellations recently. And there has been a lot of negative feedback on the Star Wars hotel experience/whatever it was called. The Avatar theme at Animal Kingdom didn't exactly bring in the hoopla it was supposed to but nobody wants to admit that. They were expecting Harry Potter-style numbers with that. Same with the Star Wars stuff, it's been kinda "Meh". Obviously people are now complaining and some have said they don't want to go to the parks right now or they are quitting anything Disney. Something about all these DVC expansions and park expansions is getting kinda of fishy to me. But it really doesn't matter either, because me and hubby have called it a day with Disney World. The place is not worth the money they are charging. The Disney family, especially Walt, are probably fuming at what it's become. I know some people are not Eisner fans, but where is he when the company needs him? I think he was good. But that's just my opinion.

One things they've done in the past was give points like this instead of cash incentives. However, they always started incentives at 150 points, and they were the same price basically as the cash incentives you could have gotten in an alternate sale. When I bought PVB points, you paid for 150 and got 160, or what I did was pay for 200 and got 220. There were small increases beyond that, but the sweet spot always seemed like it was at the 200 point mark.

To be fair, the margins at Parks and Resorts were pretty massive this last quarter. People complain about a lot of things in life, but until there is enough data to say otherwise, I follow the money.

Hey guys, I would like to formally apologize. I 100% assumed that Disney wouldn't make a giant freaking parking lot out of the walking areas on that side. The structure is also much bigger than I would have imagined. A drop off/pick up loop and valet service would have been enough, but this is actually disgusting, unnecessary and will remove the entire charm of this previously natural area.

I really only envisioned this from the water side, and on that angle it looks like it's not the worst decision of all time, but from the back side I want to throw up. Party in the front, business in the back. It's a reverse mullet and I hate it. And again i apologize to both the people on the forums and to the ducks who will be displaced.

EDIT - for those who didn't see it, i was previously in a discussion about this DVC tower and i obviously thought his wouldn't suck this much. Just in case u wonder where this is coming from...

200 seems to be a good spot as a whole for incentives. Which is why I am not to pressed about having to buy all new if needed.

Got it. And respect your feelings as well

You are conflating a whole bunch of issues into one. The bigger deal is they want more points to sell at WDW outside of Riviera. I don't expect VGF to last long either. Sorry you sold your contracts. Wonder if I saw them as I was looking at resales.

Walking to MK from the Polynesian sucked anyway, but looks like this is going to completely close off that path for a while.

Does Disney really need more DVC?

For me, this has always been the $1,000,000 question.

Presently, there are 12 DVC condominium associations at Walt Disney World. Every two or three years, another association is added. What is the ceiling for DVC at Walt Disney World? At the present rate, it would be another 6 - 7 associations between now and the 2042 expiry of Beach Club Villas, BoardWalk Villas, Boulder Ridge Villas, and some of Old Key West.

Here's my question: Given how close the new pool will be to existing Poly buildings, will it be available to all guests to help ease congestion at the Lava Pool or will it be restricted to the DVC guests?

My guess based on past even with CCV and BRV (the anomaly of the DVC additions to a resort that had existing DVC) is that it will be shared facilities. The pool will be for the DVC rooms and others.

Need it? No.

But I saw the handwriting on the wall back in the '10-'12 timeframe, and predicted (on another board) that DVC construction/conversion was the wave of the future.

It will come to the point that to get a reasonable Disney experience, you will have to be a DVC owner or premium stakeholder (Club 33, Golden Oak).

They have to find a way to get regular income since the cash deluxe rooms sell oh so well ;)

2042 is coming up close though. Eventually they will "need" more
FYI all of OKW is extended to 2057. Quitclaim means a lot of owners give up rights in 2042. The resort will not end in 2042 though.
