I'm already mourning the loss of the pristine, quiet grounds and beautiful tropical trees and landscaping I loved to stroll around walking to the GF. The extra green space was necessary buffer. To lose it will make it so much more uninviting, crowded, and unpleasant.

This is the Marriott Ko Olina in Hawaii that's close to Disney's Aulani Resort.

It's as if some DIS executive saw this and was like "oh, why don't we just build this next to the old Hawaiian place in Orlando?"

They didn't really cancel Reflections; they just moved it from Bay Lake to the Seven Seas Lagoon.

It was DOA…mostly because it was mixed use.

They don’t want/need rack rooms. They like their price points but can’t sell them at that.

I'm sure the interior will be solid and the rooms will impress. I'm sure people will enjoy new dining options (Poly could use something upscale) and amenities. To be fair, all of the new towers have done a good job offering modern, comfortable interiors.

But part of the allure of the Seven Seas Lagoon has been chipped away with each towering/boxy structure that's been added. In the past, the monorail resorts each occupied their own distinct space, and even some of the unbuilt plans (e.g. Venetian or Mediterranean) would have beautifully maintained that.

Now, the lagoon is increasingly cluttered and discordant, bringing down the area from 'magical escape' to something almost Vegas-lite. I'm disappointed they're doubling down on this approach, but can't blame them as it seems to be working.

I think they could have swayed a lot of peoples opinions on this by at least mimicking the roofline and some of the exterior design of the rest of the resort. I like the design but not for this location.

This reminds me of the scene in The Brady Bunch Movie, when Mike keeps showing up to presentations with designs that look exactly the same (and just like his own house). The Reflections architects just showed up again with the same design and hope nobody noticed.

My thought too - Gran Destino seemed very specifically designed to appeal to the convention segment. Swan Reserve also should, but through a Bonvoy lens.

The Royal Pacific is really nice -- nicer than most Disney hotels for significantly less, and with better benefits.

Although when Epic Universe is built it'll lose something in that you'll no longer be able to just walk to all the parks.

I have to disagree with you on that one from the last time we stayed there. The rooms felt small and laid out poorly.
