News New Park Entrance coming to Epcot

I'm just glad the new Epcot Entrance will be a spiritual successor to original entrance before Leave A Legacy was added.

All those who miss the original fountain, say 'Aye!'.

My goodness, that fountain looked regal during the day, and majestic when lit up at night.

How long do you suppose it will take to remove the tombstones and create new planters and a fountain?

Think there's a chance this area between the gate and SE may be done before the end of the year?

I am way too excited for these LaL monuments to leave Epcot. Add some color to the front of the park and make it easier for guests to navigate the front of the park....

And the fountain will return! I hated when they added those bricks to break up the water flow, hope it's back to a smooth cascade.
Bonus points to whomever can find a pic of the time they added moss to the fountain to celebrate St. Patrick's day. I believe that's the point in time during which the imagineers started to recognize what a mistake they had made with the whole area.

Don't be confused - I'm excited to see all the new stuff they've planned. I'm just a bit melancholy about the fact that my smiling face (that you can see in my avatar) will no longer be there, greeting everyone to my favorite park.

Question for any insiders in the know... possibly pinging @marni1971... How does this park entrance reconstruction work in conjunction with the SSE multi-year refurb?

Will the destruction of the monoliths and the installation of new landscaping be done before the work begins on SSE? During?

Is the infrastructure (gaps for the lighting?) from that old setup still in place or was the entire original fountain demo'd back then?

So far as I know underneath the current surface is the original plinth. If so, the voids would still be there (and today not nearly as much room would be needed)

I remember when on of them cracked. Is that why they were removed?
