Yeah, the definitely should have a parade themed to the pavillions in World Showcase. I think that would be quite charming actually.

Has epcot ever tried a water parade like the ones at DisneySea? It would be neat to have the floats in the lagoon and then the issue of walkways and viewing points would not matter. It would be neat to have the floats for each country in the water in a parade. just a thought.

You know, that would really be cool! I think if they combined a water parade with a regular parade it would be awsome!

I'm not sure if Epcot has, but I know that every night, the Seven Seas lagoon has an Electrical Water Parade with a big dragon and a Patriotic Finale. It can be seen at the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian resorts.
Along with a new parade for Epcot's 25th, I think they also need to eliminate the trees along the lagoon side of WS and the trees on the lagoon's Island. This would open up so many more ideal spots for Illuminations. (Currently the only spots unaffected by trees is the spot right in front of america, canada, Mexico, and WS Plaza).

Well, the major problem with that is the trees are a vital part of the theming of the different pavillions. The species are all native to the country that they represent, or, in the case of a climate very different from FL, as close as possible to what you would find in that particular country. Without trees on the lagoon side, WS would really look kinda bare.

Also, the idea for having a combined water and land parade brings up a viewing issue. You couldn't be in one place and get a good view of both of them at the same time. So, a guest would have to choose which one to see, and if there was any vital story-based interaction between the two, it would be lost on the guests.

I agree that having trees near the pavilions are not a big deal (and are a part of the pavilion itself. However, there are some spots where the trees are not needed. There seems to be a lot of unneeded trees near the France and UK pavilions. However, I see no point of having all the trees on the islands in WS lagoon. To me, all they do is disturb the viewing spots of Illuminations. They may hide the firwork shooting spots, but I'd rather see that then see a bunch of big trees.
I know this would never happen, but I have a great idea. I thought that during the day all these trees would be visible, but at night they would all lower down underground (like elevators) for the fireworks. Anyone else think this could work?

I agree with you about the islands. I once watched Illuminations and thought I had a great view. Then the globe came out and we completely missed it because of the trees on an island. We had to make a special point to go back and watch it again (hate when that happens  ). The problem was that it was raining when we went back, but we had to see it because my aunt had never seen it before and I wanted her to be able to fully appreciate such a wonderful show!

However the pavillions do need their trees. They'd be pretty bare without them.

I thought it was rather strange with all these ultralight airplanes buzzing around and jetski battles and just random busyness. The theme was some kind of good and evil battle (pre Fantasmic) with a mix of Indy or a Universal stunt show, and was just noisy. No good soundtrack that I could remember.

The problem with staging on the water vs a traditional parade is the difference between theater in the round vs traditional stage. If you don't do it right, someone always gets the butt view, or viewing then shifts to only half of the showcase...not desirable. Nightime also adds to the magic and reality, rather that having the harsh sunlight reveal every stage element.

I look forward to the return of a parade as well, loved ToD and ToN, but think a country presentation event would work really well.

If they do decide to add a parade back to Epcot, I hope they go back to some of Disney's most successful designers for the new ideas -- specifically, I'd like to see Don Dorsey and Gavin Greenaway teamed up on the project... Gavin composed the original ToN (he didn't make the edits for ToD)... he also composed and conducted Reflections of Earth. Someone with a talent like that really should have the opportunity to do it again, don't you agree?

And MKT? :p I LOVE TOD! :)

Just kidding, Rob. :)

I think the TON and ROE music is some of the best ever played in the parks. Gavin should definately be brought back if possible. I hope he wasn't too mad about the edits being made for TOD.

Hey, I watched both ToD & ToN twice a night every time I was in Epcot--both were by far my favorite ever Disney Parade. I miss waitng for the parade as the sun sets, and I loved how these parades melded into Illuminations. This is the CD I grab whenever I need a Disney fix. Epcot needs a parade--but it needs to remain Epcot themed. I love to see the characters, but what I liked about these parades was that they fit Epcot, not just a re-hash of the characters and re-mix of music from every Disney movie ever made.

To me, Epcot has it own special kind of magic, and both of the Tapestry parades added to it. I know that they are gone, but something of their magnitude would really be something to look forward to.

Welcome to the boards toagasports! :sohappy:

Just curious, where do you get your info? And by saying TON, do you mean just the music, or other elements? I know I saw some of the drum floats up for sale on ebay. Don't know about the states of the puppets, though.

I hope the rumor about a new Epcot parade is true. Tapestry of Nations was my all-time favorite Disney parade, and I liked Tapestry of Dreams too (though not as much as ToN). The music was especially stirring, and I would love it if they had the same composer do music for the new parade. I am so glad that they haven't changed the Illuminations music yet (I will be so sad when they do--we had an Illuminations pre-reception as part of our Disney wedding, so the music will always be sentimental to me).

I have a few friends in Ride and Show and WDI, I haven't talked to them in a while, but last time I spoke to them they said It will be a some of the elements. Unfortunatly the music prob will not be there. But then again the ToD is in RoE minus the dreamseeker stuff.

I think the puppets are gone, too. I posted a question about the possible resurrection of ToN or ToD a couple of months ago, and all of the posts from cast members said that the elements of those parades have been sold already.

Well, if the puppets are gone, I think we have a problem. However, they could design and build new puppets and retain some of the classic designs.
