Many of my friends who work there didn't like them though because they said Epcot wasn't made for a parade.

Ooh - tell your friends that World Showcase promonade was designed for a parade since day one! If they work at WDW and have access to plans, look at SECS - 152899, Pageant Route sensor and lighting location plan. WED production 6350 - 152899. The promonade was designed for parades to run its full length - even between Canada and Mexico.

World showcase was designed to accept a parade should one be made, but the walkways weren't made wide enough to accomodate the majority of parade floats. So you're both right AND wrong

In my opinion, ToN was better than ToD. Now I'm waiting for PoN: Parade of Nations. What better way to celebrate countries than a parade of different nations around the world. :animwink:

I agree that the walkways (at times) are not wide enough. I think during an Epcot parade, they should tell people that they can only stand on the lagoon side or right in front of pavilions. In the areas between pavilions, there is simply not enough room for some people to stand and some to walk. Prime examples of this is on the bridges (both the one near France and the one by China). Anyway, I can't foresee a new parade until 2007.

Has epcot ever tried a water parade like the ones at DisneySea? It would be neat to have the floats in the lagoon and then the issue of walkways and viewing points would not matter. It would be neat to have the floats for each country in the water in a parade. just a thought.

They've done something rather similar in the past. Not quite an organized parade, but I do remember reading something about a show in/above the lagoon. Not sure about the name, and I'm not seeing it on Intercot...does anyone else have any more info?

I loved the ToD parade so much and miss it greatly. I listen to the music to it all the time as I think it's one of Disney's greatest compositions. If they bring a parade back, I think they have some high standards to meet. Here's to hoping they bring one back and it's the best parade we've ever seen! :sohappy:
