New Orleans Square is getting Flattened

Right so I assume it's just those back sections being flattened, and then the middle level / lower level stay separated? Looking at street view, that's when you get into crazy slope territory / Fantasmic bunkers for light towers.

Yes, you are correct. I’m sure the lower and middle level will be untouched as traffics flows through them pretty easily. One of my favorite areas of the park to do a 360 look around, so gorgeous.

These walls just went up in front of French Market. Maybe the brick pavers are coming back?

Looking forward to a trip report!

I'm still naively optimistic that they're bringing back the unadulterated Fantasmic 🤣. In which case, I'll be seeing both shows come hell or high water, ha! But realistically, it'll be the '17 show and the evening hours will be reserved for other attractions.

Everyone I know who's gone the last few months says Disney Genie is dumb and makes navigating the park far less enjoyable. I plan on skipping MSEP and DL Forever, unless I get vetoed by the group (which is likely to happen, ha!).

I usually prefer visiting in the fall/winter, since Splash Mountain is much easier to get on 10 or so times in a day then it is at the end of May.

If I can watch Lincoln and Tiki, get a proper ride in on Mansion and a handful of rides on Splash, and a few other attractions in I'll be happy. My expectations are low.

Lol If they bring back the original Fantasmic I’m buying a Blue Bayou dining package.

Genie + sucks but is unfortunately necessary on certain days depending on what you re trying to do. I think you ll get those Splash rides in. Outside of warm summer evenings, it’s pretty much always a walk on late at night no? We know Lincoln and Tiki won’t be a problem. Lol. You know if it wasn’t for who you were going with and what they may want to do you probably wouldn’t need Genie +

Same 🤣 I'm also breaking out a 1992 Fantasmic shirt I have.

I'm getting it for sure.

I'm curious to see how busy Memorial Day is. In the past, holidays like it would be ridiculously busy. But with the reservation system, it theoretically shouldn't be any busier than any other day that's out of reservations, right? Unless they staff more and allow more guests because of it.

It can’t be any busier than the Monday I just experienced last week. Between 2-3 key tiers being blacked out and I’m guessing the 3 day So Cal special ticket holders as well. Regardless, with your experience if you buy Genie + and get there early enough you ll be fine.

EDIT: Come to think of it I went on Memorial Day like 10 years back and it wasn’t too bad. Probably not great data at this point but between it being a Monday, reservations, and all the blackouts I think it’ll be fine.

I'm really hoping against hope that Pirates will reopen by 5/27, because I will be there for the day. But the fact that we haven't heard anything as of yet does not bode well.
