I am JUST going to leave this here: https://www.rollingstone.com/cultur...-doctor-david-spiegel-expert-witness-1357443/

As much as I have disliked Jack Sparrow in the ride, I am nervous about his potential removal (if that's one of the things they're doing during the refurb or not).
Yep, social media mob mentality is so destructive. These little echo chambers who make it a personal mission to attack and destroy anyone or anything that threatens their group think.

Except the trial is in Virginia not California, so you'd think that if there was going to be any issue it would be happening at WDW too.
WDW appeals to families and those traveling there. MK is also the park that appeals to single adults the least. Disneyland draws tons of high school/college kids and frequent visitors who create new ways to engage with the park out of their familiarity.

WDW probably has a lot more bleed over of the groups who don't support Disney because them speaking out for gay rights and the MRA's. There's less of that bleed over in California, so a larger group of people not wanting to boycott Disney, but instead wanting to punish Disney for "turning their backs" on Depp.

I'd also expect adults to not "defend" someone they don't even know or who doesn't even know they exist to that extent, let alone period, and yet, sadly, here we are. :/

Glad that the ride in DLR is closed right now.

I still wouldn't see that being a specific thing that should be an issue that is of much worry in DLR any less than WDW, just my opinion.

In the Parks
No
Why? Because there are a couple of people that can't separate the difference between a theme park ride and reality?
Or more specifically, the character of Jack Sparrow and the actor Johnny Depp. The character has done nothing to warrant being removed from anything Disney, and just like the character of Grindelwald a new actor can play him in a future movie or they just don't make any more movies with the character.

Sure, the character of Jack Sparrow was greatly defined by the performance of Johnny Depp, but I've seen others perform the character, especially in NOS, that look and act just like Depp.

It's not, and that will be finally put to rest on July 1st. As others have already stated, if they were going to remove Jack from Disneyland Pirates, they would have already removed him from WoC, as a character roaming NOS, and the other 3 rides that he's in.

Not to mention the POTC scene in Fantasmic.

The Toy Story and Pirates sequences were the only parts of WOC that we were any good, if I can be perfectly honest.
