I agree, this will not have fountains on the level of WOC, but I am pretty sure it will have some.

Might be because the World of Color fountains require constant maintenance and/or draining the lagoon to get to them.
Since Rivers of Light will already have barges, it might be easier from a logistical point of view to have all the water features be barge-mounted rather than permanently fixed in the creek.

WOC is spectacular in person. I couldn't believe what they did with fountains, light, and music.

My guess for ROL, is that the barges are for the performers (like Disney Sea). The water effects will come from that fixed rock island recently built. Just a guess.
Agreed in full.
How do we know there will be no fountains?
We don't. And people have said it will be like Bellagio... so... fountains. :)

Even if they just put the attraction "on hold" during the show (and likely a few minutes before/after), they would need to clear the queue so people don't end up having to wait through the show. That means that they would likely need to close entry to the ride 30+ minutes before the show, to ensure that everybody can get on before they have to stop running it

If they're shutting the ride down for the night, they will also need extra time to take the vehicles off line and power everything down. I would guess that takes about 30-60 minutes, and would need to be completed before the show starts. California Screamin' at DCA does this, and often closes before it's dark in the summer
It would really be a shame if Everest closes early! I think it's an even better ride at night in the dark.
As a headliner attraction I just can't see that happening, they'll have to find a way to work around it.

I need to see WoC in person and videos cannot do it justice but am I the only one who thinks it's a bit overhyped? I just don't get the appeal. It's probably one of those things that you HAVE to experience in person and I hope to love it when I do.

It's a fine show to be sure, but I do feel it is overhyped. I think virtually every big nighttime entertainment that Disney puts on is high quality and WoC is no exception, but for an individual one show might appeal more than another. I think there is a tendency for people to overly hype or overly dismiss things they like versus dislike on these pages.

I suspect that for the vast majority of guests, they will enjoy RoL quite a bit.

The fountains can raise up above the water to a "maintenance" level.

Im happy it won't be WOC. Thankful they are not copying and pasting shows.

Iger: listen guys. Select that Star Wars Land you are designing for Florida (can't remember name of the park). What if you hit CTRL+C, and then CTRL+V. We good? Back to Shanghai...what are we going to do with that big Buzz Lightyear sculpture we already made?

Minus fountains, but plus barges and live performers and the Tree of Life. Just because the show doesn't have fountains, doesn't mean it will be any less spectacular than WOC. In fact, one should not compare the two. You'll only set yourself up to be let down if you expect WOC 2.0.

It's new and different. Unique is fine by me.
I wonder if they can use the fireball effect that is now in WOC. They might not be able to because of the animals.

It's essentially a giant flamethrower that shoots a huge fireball into the sky. Very impressive, and makes the illuminations fire barge seem dated.
