I believe they were implying that at least a portion of RoL (if not the whole show) would be shown to people who wouldn't lose their job by video recording it by that date. Kind of a subtle "Current time line is this..." hint.

The thing that worries me is that Disney has not even done a preshow to their 'social media brigade' to hype the upcoming show. So if guys like Brigante have not been treated to a 'advance show' I don't think the show is going up anytime soon.
That being said people misinterpret my pessimism on Disney opening stuff in a timely manner as not WANTING it to premier. AK is my favorite park and I'd love an excuse to visit but so far Disney seems to be falling flat on their face. Note that @WDW1974 has hinted that the opening of Pandora will not happen until late 2017 or later.
As to people who think I'm a 3/4 empty guy well that's too optimistic I'm more of a 9/10'ths empty guy where WDW is concerned.
It's opening within weeks. Please don't clog up the thread.

I have to admit though, that most of the fun in this thread is waiting to see @prfctlyximprct 's reaction when this finally debuts. I hope beyond hope that she gets to actually see it on her upcoming trip.

They did do that. Back in April when it was supposed to open. I'd be amazed if they did it again.

So, the infamous site-not-to-be-named is claiming a debut date of 18Nov2016. However, I might also add that they are not backing this up with any sort of fervent belief. Additionally, according to one of their previous posts, Joe Rohde shouldn't even be working for Disney anymore. So take it for what it is worth.
They did say that some of the cast members have described this show a stunning, beautiful, etc. One even went so far as to say it was the most amazing thing they ever saw in their life (@prfctlyximprct should probably sit down to read that last part).

I am 100% sure it will not be open by then since that was last week.
The article actually says 18 Nov 2016.

November 18th -- too little too late for us -- we'll BE there 11/14-11/21 and there is still no way we'll be able to see it, thanks to the dinner ADRs we made months ago and the daily 7pm AK closings. We even left room on our schedule the evening of our AK day (11/15) in hopes that ROL would have debuted, but if it doesn't start until 11/18, that time slot we saved will be of no use. What a bummer to be so close -- literally there at WDW -- and still have to miss it! I'll keep my fingers crossed for a soft opening on 11/15 but I'll remain pessimistic (so as not to be disappointed). I do hope that PizzeRizzo opens on or before 11/18 -- we're planning to spend 11/19 at HS, so I can put "bury sorrows about tardy ROL by overindulging in crappy pizza in a charming and wacky setting" on my touring plan for that day.
The same thing happened to us when we visited a year-and-a-half ago, and missed the opening of 7DMT by a few days. Apparently I'm just terrible at picking dates to visit!!!
