Is it possible we may enter softs still without an opening date with Disney airing on the side of extreme caution in regards to announcing an opening date?

Has Disney ever done softs for a nighttime spectacular? Given that this show requires Fastpass and dining packages due to capacity and that people need some sort of commitment that it will run before they come to the park, it really just needs to hard open after perhaps a few nights of announced previews.

Pretty much this. I'd imagine any softs will be many but behind closed doors.

I'm not sure if they have or if that really matters at this point though. If I'm Disney, you've already missed the mark once, don't risk missing it twice and looking like absolute tools.

It better be here in 69 days! ROL speaks to my soul!

Aww hope you get it. It spoke to my soul too but sadly my trip came and went and all I got was that lame Jungle book show. I don't get built up by much but was very much looking forward to it like you but sadly it will have to wait until 2020, surely by then it will be open. FWIW we still had an amazing trip but where AK used to be my favorite it was probably my least favorite this trip.

They already do!. You don't announce something, put promos in commercials for it, and after a delay announce you will announce an update that you never intend to give without looking like a tool.

As far as they are concerned they did announce an update. The update was that they would be providing an interim show... The jungle book alive with magic. They couldn't give a date that RoL would be ready because they didn't have one.

I really hope the music in the beginning of this video is part of the soundtrack! I love it!

It's been said some things had to be reworked... I'm wondering if the soundtrack was one of them?

I really hope so. I really liked the "We Are One" song that was featured in the press preview a while back. Reminds me of "We Go On" in Illuminations ROE.

Hoping and praying this show remains IP free as it seemed it was going to be and is inspiring in the way that Illuminations is.

I am hearing the second half of September may be busy with some after hours activity. . . Assuming this will spill into October with a potential open on or before October 16. Interesting dates and to be honest, I was told not to put too much stock in them. . .
If true, was this the plan all along or does MSEP have something to do with this?
