Wasn't there supposed to be a test that involved the possible tentative show this past week, if there was then how did it go? Or did I get it jumbled up with something else?

Marni, selfishly, could you do some digging with your sources to follow up on this new development to the rumor? I’d be devastated if I couldn’t see Illuminations one last time before it’s retired. And seeing as I have to plan a flight from CT to see it one last time, I’m kind of relying on advanced notice. If Disney announces a change in the next few months, I’ll miss it.

I’ve always had an emotional attachment to Illuminations, and it’s my favorite thing to do in WDW. I know it sounds silly but it means a lot to me!
Hi CrescentLake. I live in CT also. ESPN is a mile down the road from me. I too would like them to keep the music and the theme and to just upgrade the show. Adding drones, bigger and better fountains would be fine if all else stays. Still would like a re-visit on the idea of having two or three large parts to a new earth globe. Bring them in 1 at a time and put them together for the show. Remember, Disney likes to cut costs recently. So maybe a good upgrade is still more desirable than completely new show.

Fantastic article/interview about the creation, and ultimately, the end of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. Nothing truly news worthy but a great read.

Great article, thanks for sharing. Especially loved the part where Dorsey initially described the globe and what it did, and the Disney folks (even back then) sorta skeptically transcribed his elaborate vision... and then they executed it. Not sure if that would happen in today's environment; there'd be a bean-counter in the meeting, probably.

I hope that's not the case; I hope the new show with its drones and the like will be as much of a show-stopper as Reflections of Earth is, but I'm also enough of a realist to temper my expectations for the new show. The bar is raised very, very high.

I love the fact that Don Dorsey originally was going to compose Spectromagic (Then called Electromagic) before they went with a different composer.
