If it is issued now (not previously) then it should work. I have seen AP on KTTW but its rare.

Eh, about 11 months old by now. We bought them through the concierge at AKL, and they loaded the AP onto club level KTTW cards. Kinda felt lucky to be carrying around a golden KTTW.

I'm sure this has been answered but I forget quickly. How are they monitoring who scans & who doesn't? Or what is to keep people from just walking in & bypassing the new scanners?

If I remember correctly, that was one of the reasons for the iPads that were being issued to some gate CMs. Software can detect and track human bodies via camera. So as you enter the gate area, a computer has separated you from the other humans around you, and lets say marks you with a yellow box around your face. It tracks you, and if you go to the glowing orb and swipe your valid ticket, the box turns green. If a yellow boxed body passes a certain point without turning green, the system can turn it red, and send an alert to the CMs with the iPads, including the picture of the guest. The CM can then walk over to the guest, and ask them if they forgot to scan their ticket, or security can escort them back outside. Really basic assumptions of how it works knowing what is possible with technology. Maybe some variation of this system, with differences in the details. Yes there may be false hits of people who didn't scan, but the CM can use their iPad to check to see if their ticket was used and it valid. And if a guest does happen to slip through without being scanned, I imagine it is offset by the cost savings in staffing reductions.

And all cast ID’s have RFID tags in them as well.
Im really interested to see how this effects staffing, from testing their was about 5 cast working the entrance itself, where normally its one cast for every two turnstiles. So about 3 or 4 cast per section. So i think next gen is actually going to cause an increase in staffing but I’m sure efficiency will be much higher, so maybe they would need less sections open in the long run.

Unfortunately no longer allowed to do this. No APs on KTTW-style cards currently, can't sell them or reissue them.

Why does everyone want change??? But when they change and come out with something new... People don't like it??? and complain they are changing too much... I don't get it! lol

There is a sizable portion of the fan community that wants a change in the executives that are in charge of WDW and further up the TWDC ... the other change, just because its new - doesn't make it a good change - except in certain circumstances when change is good.
Good change is the news of Starbucks on Main Street. Oh BTW y'all you don't see Disneylanders acting out that Starbucks is going in on their Main Street ...

I don't drink coffee at all, but I know that a Starbucks is going to be WAY better than that instant crap they sell now! I gladly welcome it. I mean.. we used to have McDonald's fry carts... Noone complained till they took them out.

You might want to have a look at the comments in the attached article. While the opposition is not as vehement as what we saw for WDW, It does look like a number of DL fans are having a similar reaction.

I'm sure that once the new system is established and fully operational it will require less CMs working than it did during the tests. During testing you always have managers hanging around keeping an eye on things, plus extra CMs simply telling Guests what to do. Once you have things set up, it'll probably go back to two CMs per section, perhaps with fewer sections open as you guessed.

So are resorts no longer allowed to sell APs? Or do they now have a printer with the standard ticket stock? Thought I had seen people reporting still being able to buy APs at the resort, and that the guests were doing so specifically for KTTW stock instead of tyvek. (It just happened to be more convenient for us)
