New Monsters Inc. show at Studios

Does anybody else feel like they're going overboard with all the Monsters U stuff? Yeah it'll probably be a decent movie, but really...

It will be funny (albeit unlikely) if Lone Ranger ends up being a sleeper hit like Pirates, and, like when Pirates first released, they find themselves running low on merchandise.

But in the meantime, they have M.U. t-shirts and eyeball cupcakes and Baby Boos to sell ...

Yeah, i have noticed the overhype of MU.
I mean, even Build-a-Bear Workshop is jumping on the bandwagon with it*s *Make Your Own Sulley* plushes ( ALSO beginning on June 14th...my what a coincidence ...!)

It seems to have all the hallmarks of a film being overly promoted because it is lacking in other areas ( ala Cars 2 ) but i could by proven wrong and the movie may actually be rather entertaining.

I am not sure though....too many gimmicky themes, and the 80s throwback references sure to be included will induce eye rolls even from this tried and true ex-80s era teen.

It does sound like a poor man's Mad T Party, though the show could be good if the band is. From a corporate perspective, I can't imagine this isn't being paid for by the studio to promote the film. There's no real upside from the TDO perspective except as a LTM placeholder. If they really wanted to replicate the success of T, they'd have liquor sales and a more adult theme, and not in front of the Hat.

The more I think about it, the dumber TDO is for not replicating T already. Streets of America would be an easy place to shove a big nighttime street party. I don't think T itself would go over well at WDW - the character representations are bit risque for the midwest sensibility - I can just see the mommy blogger complaints about Alice now!

Is that the U.S. ambassador to North Korea?

There's such a Monsters overkill!

The problem with Monsters is, that it was a lovely movie, but it didn't have very lovable or memorable characters, nor 'universe'. I don't understand why it is pushed so much, other than to promote the movie. Monsters feels like a poor fit for synergetic brand pushing.

...Scare Supply?

Their name for the rock band for this monster dance party is an Air Supply pun? Okay then...

I'm going to be working costuming for it. I haven't seen the costumes yet, but my roommate (who will also be working the show) said that Mulch, Sweat, & Shears had gotten some new costumes in for it, so I'm guessing Scare Supply is really just Mulch.

You're kidding, right? Sully, Mike and Boo (and Randall, actually) are all very lovable and/or memorable characters. I would actually argue that they are some of the best character development that Pixar has ever done, except for Toy Story.

My understanding as well. Marie

Saw a video of this mu show and it was embarrassingly awful. Meanwhile the Lone Ranger preview film was really cool and has me excited to see the movie

I saw the video as well and am absolutely inclined to agree with Bryan. This , at most should have been a smaller dance party tucked off into a corner of the park, not a full scale event as it is. Cute idea but a smaller event would have been far more appropriate. Marie

With word of mouth that I've seen on Man of Steel being weak, I think this Summer is still primed for a breakout hit. Combine Johnny Depp, a young movie star in the making still looking for his first break, and the guy who directed Pirates (without all the baggage of the sequels)? Lone Ranger could definitely be it.

Now confirmed. Once again, drew81 scoops everyone.

Attend a Monsters University Homecoming

Starting June 14, 2013

Make way for a Monsters University Homecoming celebration! The MU School of Scaring is hosting a campus bash inspired by Disney•Pixar's Monsters University and it all goes down each evening at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Hit the quad where you can hear your DJ—"Monster of Scaremonies"—spinning the latest beats, and take part in a series of fun activities. Then, get pepped up as the MU cheerleaders pop in to lead the MU Fight Song before those monsters of rock, Scare Supply, take the stage. Enjoy a medley of monstrous mash-ups, and laugh along as they're joined on stage by Mike and Sulley. It's a pep rally of epic proportions, and it's all part of Limited Time Magic!
Does anyone know what time this starts and ends. I am thinking of passing by DHS tomorrow and would like to see it.
