Rumor New Monorails Coming Soon?

Looks 100% real to me, and probably recent since it hasn’t been too long since those windows were removable.

Also it’s really not that big of a deal. It’s pretty hot out and if a train is without power it’s pretty reasonable to take those windows out. The guests were likely instructed that they could by the pilot.
What is disconcerting is that TDO expects guests to be stranded on the monorail so they went to the trouble of making the windows removable (recent development) rather than repairing the equipment to the point this does not happen. In their minds this is "normal operation".

And that takes the award for the most gigantic leap in assumptions ever to grace the pages of the interwebs. Many, think ahead measures are made to maintain the safety and, at least, partial comfort in the event of a problem. Only a group with their head firmly up their butts would think that nothing would ever go wrong. The second biggest is that it might be done instead of maintenance. Please tell me that you weren't being serious. Here we are talking about knee jerk reactions to a simple situation and in the same thread we get this fake, fabricated and, very knee jerk statement.

It's troubling the conditions but not troubling they made the windows like this. Whether 100 times from lack of upkeep or 10 times from a thunderstorm, there should be a way for fresh air to get in once the system goes down. They can have the best system in the world but it's still going to breakdown at some point and even if it's once, there needs to be a way to do this.

It doesn't look anything like WDW monorails either. The sections are not that short. We're being trolled.

Ahhh yes the pot calling the kettle black...

And here I am defending Goofier...

We were being trolled. The initial report and pictures were stating that the windows just "popped off". The story went from being a Monorail breakdown to a monorail literally falling apart. Yeah, its a legit pic, but we were being trolled. Something about the report didn't pass the smell test, so many of us were trying to figure out what was wrong with it.

Gee, I wonder why there was no way to get air other than the 1 inch opening of the end windows for all these years and TDO found that acceptable? The ability to remove the windows is a recent change to these decades old trains. Must be due to global warming....

I have never known a public transportation system that didn't have emergency windows that could be opened. My guess is that they have always been there, or were recently discovered by safety people that they needed to be there. It's possible they just never mentioned it. I don't really know what the situation was, but, it just didn't make any sense that they would go to the expense and trouble of installing them at this late date to avoid maintenance.

No, some windows have always been removable, the recent change is the door windows being removable too.

Or maybe it's the fact that all public transport has windows that can be removed...commonly known as an emergency exit.

How dare they attempt to follow common sense and keep their fleet (which even if a new one is ordered, wont be going anywhere for a good few years) meeting safety standards .

Well even if the system is properly maintained and has new trains the possibility of a monorail being stranded without power will still be there. The removable windows were never really designed for ventilation, they were for emergency exit. Each car has four small ventilation windows in each corner. Those small windows really aren't enough though and I suspect that they added the removable windows to the doors to minimize guests having to handle the larger heavier windows.

This is starting to scare me.. and not for the reasons you may think.

Remember 20,000 leagues... what was the reason for its demise.

All of this media attention lately towards parts falling off, breakdowns, doors is starting to make them sound like the are falling apart and customers are dissatisfied and angry. Its aging tech and falling apart. I'm not saying this is disneys doing (no conspiracy although you could write that narrative), but instead of replacing could they get rid of the monorails now due to expense, upkeep, safety, and them falling apart. In other words use the negative press as a ways to kill them off. Basically the trains are no longer viable and the beams "were at the end of their lifespan and would be too costly to replace"<- basically pr like they have done in the past to state something not true but impossible to prove them wrong.. something like "our engineers found cracks that would only be fixed by replacing all of the beams, due to safety and the age of the monorails... blah blah lies"

IF you look at my previous posts I was one saying no way they would remove, its in the advertising, the hotel loops, iconic. BUT does this negative press give Disney and its penny pinching a chance to decide to just get rid of them instead of what I think a year ago was to replace.

On that note if they are going to replace.. have they waited too long, I assume its going to take at least 2 years for new ones.
