Monorail Blue just had an incident. People were boarding on at the TTC and the doors randomly slammed shut. Crushed a few people, thankfully no one was injured. After this they sent us to the resort line. Both lines are down now.

thankful no one was hurt

does Amazon sell Monorails? If Disney has a prime account maybe they can have them in 2 days?

This is getting to be scary... If there is a video of the incident this could mean the new monorails are going to be pushed to be put in even quicker due to media outlets carrying it.
It's also way to early to draw a conclusion of just how serious it was. The use of the word "crushed" may be painting a picture of something far more serious then it really was. Ever get caught with the door closing on an elevator as you boarded? Have you ever had the urge to write that up and report that you were crushed on social media?

If it turns out that someone was actually hurt then we can analyse the severity of the event, otherwise it is just another tourist overreaction to a small thing. In the meantime, let's keep the panic and the righteous indignation to a low roar. Or better yet, lock ourselves up in a small foot thick steel room and avoid any of those nasty old risks that we take by leaving it and wandering out into the world.

If confirmed, that’s scary about Blue. This is two door issues in a year. I’m worried they’ll shut the system down for safety concerns and simply not reopen it.

Amazon and Disney are teaming up to create WDW Destination Drones. You will be able to enter your Disney destination into the drone (ex: Magic Kingdom) and the drone will deliver you and your family right to the security entrance of the park. Drones will come in 5 styles....Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Belle and Olaf.

They have to get Tom Kane to record it.... It takes away from the experience.... If they got him for Copper Creek, there's no reason he can't for a new door warning...

Here in London we actually have two sets of announcers on the tube ‘normal’ announcements are made by a woman and then we have a very stern man for safety announcements like the famous ‘mind the gap’.

The same thing happened while I was onboard monorail green coming back from EPCOT on Tuesday at the TTC. The doors opened, then quickly and without warning closed again. I was able to step back but a little girl in at the rear of the train wasn't so lucky. She got clipped and they had EMS come to evaluate her.

I don't think however, this is a train problem. Since the incident on Red Monorail staff have been very proactive and aggressive with door safety and checking the doors, which often involve them repeatedly opening and closing doors that may appear to open but are closed. Plus also with the new automation system the doors can be opened/closed from multiple locations beyond the control panel on the train. It sounds to me like this incident was two people pushing buttons at the same time.

Yeah I’m not a huge fan of the “manual” announcements, but I think they know the automated spiel often gets ignored. Nothing gets your attention quite like a frantic CM yelling through a scratchy microphone.

So I've been a bit of a monorail defender- why couldn't they replace the carpet/refurb A/C... - but clearly things seem to be falling apart.

I assume Disney is starting to negotiate aggressively about getting this corrected? But even with a new purchase, I would expect 2 years until implementation?

Yeah the original TTC they built for the WDW opening in 1971 was supposed to link up with an shopping center thing that didn't get built.
That was a WEDway link, not monorail.

Neither the 1976 EPCOT, the 1977 World Showcase, nor any design afterwards was to link to the existing monorail aside from a switch beam.
