Rumor New Monorails Coming Soon?

Yup pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for new monos for at least another 5 years. No way they can afford or justify it now. It'll be interesting to see what can be done with the existing fleet. I know there was a push to given them an overhaul but given it didn't exactly go great (E.g Silver still smelling awful and the seats coverings falling apart) hopefully some new ideas will be brought to the table.

Wow, congratulations, you managed to make it sound like a door flies open about every two seconds instead of once in 30 years and that they are all down (some are down for the maintenance that so many say doesn't happen) or trashed (I don't know of any that have been trashed) and that in order to use the mono rail one has to walk on the top of the rail itself from TTC to MK or Epcot and that it is constant. I don't mind the fact that after 30 years it is probably time to upgrade to new equipment, maybe replace it one train at a time, but, gloom and disaster spouting only hurts the chances of that happening.

well, this post didn’t age well at all. Greetings from 2021, where monorail trains are breaking down on an almost-daily basis! 👋

We were discussing ONE particular door incident, not that fact that mechanical things can break down. My years in life have taught me that machinery that is not used constantly will tend to break down faster, especially if they are relying on electricity for power. All types of contacts can over time corrode and lose conductivity and what we are seeing right now for a large part of the fleet has been practically idle for about a year. It will take time for all the things to start working well again. Even after that there will occasionally breakdowns and there is no magic trick to prevent that from happening. I know that some like to think that because WDW is a fantasy kingdom that all the influences of the actual world will not get past the main gate. If you are one of those, you simply are wrong. And my statement has aged just fine, thank you. 👋

I wish they’d make buses that run to the MK from TTA permanent. I hate the boat and monorail. It’s fun to do that experience…like twice. After that, it loses its luster quick.

We can only hope. And hope that “temporary” truly is, in his case. Although it’s another case of “be careful what you wish for”. The next CEO could make the last two look like intelligent theme park people. Kind of like how the Bob’s make Eisner seem pretty good by comparison.
Eisner was legitimately good for awhile. Chappie has always been terrible in the company.
