Yer I heard Eisner was not happy with SGE so maybe the new attraction could be...

Stitches Great Escape 2...Stitch escapes the magic kingdom and runs away to a far away planet. :slurp:

Just joking, I don't mind Stitch but I think they are just putting too much into the character. I think that instead of pumping all of the budgets into one character, put it into a larger variety of Characters that are not used as much as they could be.

Agreed. After riding SGE I hated it, after riding it again, I started liking it. Then I rode at least over 8 times the Thanksgivings trip, and started to really enjoy the character. I bought the movie started watching the series, and really like Stitch now. But after riding it again at Christmas about 3 times, the shoulder restrainst were messed up in that everytime he would get behind me the thing would just keep going up higher, making it impossible to feel the last effect. They did fix it to where at night the pic of the astro orbiter is at night aswell, but it still lacks, and unless they upgrade it I have no plans of seeing it in the future.

Also the overadvertisment of the character esp. @ WDW is getting WAY to out of hand, and annoying. More people IMO, are going to start hating Stitch if they dont stop. His picture is like almost everywhere on property.
Why over advertise a stupid attraction.

In regards to the "Please stand clear of the doors..." here is some technical info that will help explain why you hear things sometimes and not others.

The monorail has two types of audio systems. The CMPAS (aka Binloop) and the DPMS.

It's been far too many years for me to remember what they stand for, but the DMPS is in charge of the door open chime, the PA chime, and the door closing warning. These sounds are embedded on chips. Unfortunetly, the components are getting old, and are very tempermental. They are also impossible to replace, and extremely hard and expensive to repair. They are VERY subjective to the elements (heat, rain, cold, and especially static electricity, which is found in abundance in the front cab) As such, every so often, you might hear a blip or glitch with the door closing warning.

They are currently trying to combine it with the CMPAS. The CMPAS is responsible for the audio spiel. Silver was the first train to have this modification. That was a hoot when that first happened. Instead of the "Please stand clear of the doors" it played whatever spiel was next in queue. Oops! Right now I think they're working on integrating everything together with the new console, and automating the spiels. (Yellow is the only train to be complete... it's the beta testing train)

The CMPAS was originally done with 8-tracks, which is why it was separate from the DPMS, which was for on-demand sounds. Currently, the CMPAS uses a "Binloop" audio processor, which takes the sounds from a small PC-card portable hard drive. However, there are still glitches with the integration with this system as well.

I <3 Stitch too, but now he is everywhere! It's Mickey's park NOT Stitchs!

Yeah. That's Stitch's character though. He wants to take over everything. In a way it's kinda cute that they can carry on his characteristics like that everywhere. Mickey is my favorite but I love Stitch too.

When I worked at The Disney Store and Lilo & Stitch were just coming out, we placed stitch all over the store making him look like he was up to no good everywhere you went. It really got people in the mood to see the movie and just by us doing those little things, the guests got to know his character even before the movie was relesed. I had fun hiding him too. Especially Stitch in a princess costume!

We actually noticed that when we were on a couple of the other monorails including Silver.

The new voice is okay, but I do prefer the old narration. I'm not a big fan of the narration advertising the newest attractions in the MK (Stitch, Philharmagic). The EPCOT one is slightly better, but it goes too slow when you are moving from attraction to attraction.

I understand that Disney is trying to promote it's new ride and all but too much stitch can get annoying

I agree completely. My breaking point was reached when I saw the new Space Mountain anniversary pin to be released this month:
http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=6025.

My sources tell me its design was created thusly.....
-----
Setting: Weekly Pin Development Meeting

Sally: “Ok everyone, listen up. Here’s the new artwork for the 30th anniversary of Space Mountain pin”

Everyone: “oh, nice!”

Sally: “Yeah it looks great except that Jim over in park promotions asked that all departments contribute efforts to underscore the new Stitch attraction.”

John: “But, Stitch really doesn’t have anything to do with SM, Sally. Can’t it just be a SM pin? Stitch wasn’t even around when SM was built…which is what the pin celebrates. We’ve already created tons of Stitch pins.”

Sally: “[with a disapproving look] I know John, but Jim said….. [To everyone] Come on there’s got to be some clever and creative way we can tie Stitch into this…..”

Alex: “Hey, I have an idea….”

Alex takes a small Stitch sticker and slaps it up on the pin artwork.

Sally: “Oh, that’s excellent Alex, thank you!”

Alex and Sally get promotions. John can’t understand why he doesn’t get ahead.

Or something like that anyway. :animwink:

The new monorail spiels have been in since about the beginning of december. the please stand clear of the doors spiel does not work on every train, on monorails lime and black they hardly work but they have not gotten rid of them, it is a trade mark of the monorail system.

Heard the new spiel during our last trip... was really freaked out not to hear the familiar voice on the monorail! I also learned that there are spots where the announcer adds emphasis (didn't find out exactly what) and that there are a few things added/changed from the old spiel. All in all, I can't really decide whether or not I like it, because I only heard it for one segment!

I saw stitch on the Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion pins, common now I'm sure we could do without.

Bring back the old monorail spiel!!!

This really stinks. It took me forever to learn how to say that in Spanish! So much for impressing my friends. Guess I'll have to go back to saying 'Yo queiro Taco Bell!'

I was going to ask for the exact same thing, does any one have the new spiel so I can embed it into me head and face fact that it probably isnt going to go away for a while, you are also not sad for having it on CD, the monorail spiel has got to be one of the most listened to pieces of audio on my PC, Ipodt and stereo.

I will miss the old announcer voice. Always told me I was there, at my comfort zone of WDW! At least we still have "Please stand clear of the doors, por favor..."!

As for Stitch invading everything, it is just another example of the marketing people killing things over time with their "brand management" and "strategic use of the 'Stitch' brand"... i.e., corporate types making decisions that look good on paper ("Put Stitch everywhere, since is popular"), but that just don't get it in the long run. Short-term gains ruining long-term assets.

Funny how they fired the Florida Feature Animation team that was responsible for Stitch in the first place... you know, saying how their type of work was "dead" ... hmmm..... :lookaroun
