New Monorail Resort Dining Experience Announced

I see a lot of people on these threads saying they think this is a reasonable offering and signing up for it. I wonder if the general public will think it's also reasonable.

Doesn't matter. Margins on this are likely >70%.
This becomes irrelevant if this dinner's popularity wanes.
After all, this is the time of year when people become extravagant, but will this offering remain popular when people reign in their spending in the New Year?

This really isn't all that surprising I suppose. I'm curious to see how guests staying at GF react to this though. At that time, trains can already be pretty crowded when they reach that stop with the evening rush of monorail resort guests heading to MK. If I was paying a premium to stay club level at that resort, for example, and had to wait to board already overcrowded trains to get back to MK for the evening because other guests had priority boarding, I might be a little irritated.

Then let's give the CL guests priority boarding too! Or maybe anyone with a room over $500? Maybe anyone part of a big group? Maybe everyone with a small group?

Let's just give EVERYONE priority boarding!!!

I think the monorail should become an exclusive amenity for the monorail resort guests and of course any upsell events. The riff raff is what makes the monorail smell bad.

After all, Disney is no longer catering to the masses. Their new mantra is, " If you want customer service, you have to pay extra!"

Its fully booked through to March (although I think that is mainly because its limited to 24 people) and I've seen several reviews on DISBoards that it is a great evening with good quality food and drink and worth the price. There are two hosts who travel with the group plus all the regular waiting staff at the places you stop at, things like that add value quite easily.

But one estimation of value is
$25 Valet
$8.50 Soup WAVE
$10 Drink WAVE one full pour
$20 2 Appetizers TRADER SAM
$11 Mai Tai TRADER SAM without keeping mug full pour
$46 Short Rib / Scallop CITRICOS
$10 Wine Pairing, 1 full glass or 2 half glasses, white and red
$18 Cheese Platter GF
$20 per glass Champagne GF , refills available, priced for 2
$50 SMALL dessert party with alcohol and fireworks view ($80 for MK one)
Cordial refills available but I'll just leave the price
$10 Gift box of Truffles to go
$0 3 Cast Members, plus resort CMs and special attention

I think some of those estimations are excessive, I wouldn't class the desserts & cordials element at Comtempory balcony as $50, but given all the other dishes are generally full size its quite easy to get up to the $120 value of the event.

I wonder if Disney will cancel these reservations and then bring it back at a 30% price increase, like they did with Villians Unleashed. Correction: Club Villian

I tried to get this and it was sold out, my wife and I are going to "self" create the experience. We have reservations at the Grand Floridian Cafe on 12/26. We'll start at the Poly and Tambu Lounge for drinks and an app. Head over to Grand Floridian, and then end back at the Contemporary (where we're staying) and Top of the World Lounge for drinks and fireworks. We'll receipt compare after and see if we stay under the $300.

Wonder how many were comp'ed to the Lifestylers and 'Disney Moms' panel to create good word of mouth...

That was the morning. It was fixed by the time of the resort crawl. So, disparaging the aging, oft-broke, death trap was totally out of place.

:p

It was? So my wife's text from Saturday evening around 8:45pm EST saying that the monorail had broken down means "it was fixed"? Huh...

Actually, I've thought the resort monorail should have been CR, GF and Polynesian guests only for years. At the end of the day, there is no advantage to being at a monorail resort as both sides are completely packed coming out of the Magic Kingdom.

We were already planning something similar for our upcoming Xmas trip but without the expensive meal -

Poly - 4pm Trader Sams (appetiser and drink)
GF - Gasparilla Grill (food) then Mizner (drink)
Contemporary- Top of the World Lounge (appetiser and drink)
Poly - Tambu Lounge (bread pudding and drink) - Wishes 10pm on the beach

Or would we be better off doing it differently, e.g. Doing Wishes from the TOTW Lounge?

Thoughts:
Also, they are calling it 'the highway in the sky' again? Does this mean the monorails will return to that standard of cleanliness that it held back then?

No, They mean exactly that. It is the "Highway in the sky", in the [Highway] sense of the Cross Bronx Expressway: dangerous, dirty, filled with impatient a-holes who are too self-important to care about your day, with minimal upkeep or repairs made over the last 2 decades

The difference is the Cross Bronx Expressway gets maintained occasionally...
