New Monorail Resort Dining Experience Announced

I get that if you pay a certain amount you'd probably want that champagne in glass, but really, plastic makes more sense. Who wants to clean up or step around broken glass if someone drops it? I don't see what's so awful about that. And because they dropped some desserts, no maybe not because of customer demand but these things adjust themselves as they go. Sounds like from that review it was a pretty good time.

I understand what you are saying, but Disney seems to have adopted a new business model where they offer an itemized premium package and then slowly take things away that were originally part of the package. This monorail package was announced in November and things are being slowly removed from what was originally offered: 2 glasses of champagne served with cheese has now become 1 glass of champagne and the cheese has been moved to the dessert party.

Another example of this is the E-ticket ride tour ( I can't remember the exact name). Guests were taken to the different WDW parks and had FOL access to certain E-ticket rides in each park. The package included lunch at the Brown Derby. Later on, the Brown Derby lunch became lunch at Sunshine Seasons.

If it is only 12 then they wont have to "rope off entire monorails" and probably just take half the patio. Going on 1/17 and hoping it is great. Of course if the reviews pan it there time to cancel!

Hey, that's tomorrow! Let us know how it goes - your opinion is valued as a more level-headed poster.

This becomes irrelevant if this dinner's popularity wanes.
After all, this is the time of year when people become extravagant, but will this offering remain popular when people reign in their spending in the New Year?

People have birthdays and anniversaries throughout the year, and for me, this is more appropriate for that, rather than a random day. To those who can afford it on a random day – good for them!

I had a bunch of other quotes attached to this reply, but I went back and deleted them all because it was just a parade of negativity that I was going to attempt to argue against.

I appreciate those of you who responded with open mindedness. I think this sounds like fun. It may be too late to add to our anniversary trip in September (and it may not even be running then?) because I've already made a few "splurge" reservations. But had I known about this sooner, I would've seriously considered it just for the fun experience.

I've noticed the same thing. If you see a new offering you are interested in, jump in fast. Because the takeaways seem to come pretty quickly these days.

I actually have seen a breakdown of the original offering and what each component was "worth". Since it turned out to show it was a decent deal, I wondered how long it would take Disney to dumb it down. Even I am amazed at how fast it seems to have happened here.

I guess they are scaling back on what they initially offered:
- Earlier reports were more than one glass of champagne, now it's one glass
- When this started there was a champagne & cheese gathering now you get a plastic cup of champagne in the lobby.
- First hand report stated two desserts now. Photos and reviews for original evenings were 4-5. Reduction.
- Cheese is now served at the dessert party portion
- Valet parking was removed from this offering.

The funny thing is, there are people willing to pay for this, why set the initial price point so low such that it would force them to cut back and diminish the experience. If you do a special unique dining package make it worthwhile even you have to pay more for it.

Personally, I'd rather pay more and enjoy my experience, than pay less and be disappointed (as indicated by what was done above).

Great news. All of the changes Disney made to this package have been reversed and it's back to what was originally offered. I guess in some cases, it pays to complain or maybe this is a start of a new trend. I certainly hope so.

We went last night. Overall it was fun experience - once I'm settle down I'll write up more details - waiting on DME back to the airport

Ok here goes - forgive me I'm typing on a phone.

The overall impression we had was that it was fun, maybe worth it, but a one and done. The cast members were all excellent and it was all handled well but it wasn't such a wow that I'd want to go back

The drink at the wave was very good albeit a bit sweet. The soup was delicious but a very small taste. Moving to the Poly was fairly painless but there was no real elegance being packed in the monorail. The Drink at the poly was again good and somewhat sweet. The first two small bites there were tasty - especially the beet - but were very tiny. The third bite pork belly was fairly flat in flavor.

Off the GF and dinner. It was yummy and included 2 scallops, a piece of short rib and some white and purple cauliflower. The wine here was good but I'm not expert on wine.

The cheese board and champagne has returned but it's just one glass a guest. This cheese board was the highlight of the evening for me. Desserts at the CR patio were the flourless chocolate cake and an orange sponge cake. Ok but not memorable. The cordial was Godiva white chocolate and coffee premixed. The fireworks view is ok - but I was tempted to go to Top of the World which I think is better.

It seems that the overall offering has been trimmed from its beginning but some things have been restored. In retrospect I think I could have have an equally fulfilling experience hopping bars with just a group of friends and a dinner res at a lower price point.

Thanks for that. It is all about the details, isn't it? Sounds like I would pass for now just given the details about what is served. ( I don't enjoy sweet drinks or coffee, etc.)
