I've never seen the old show, so forgive me if this has always happened, but is there a certain reason why its ONLY princesses (or princess-like, Mary Poppins, Alice etc...)?

Seems to me the line-up is made of mostly the M&G characters available in the morning. They probably leave the opening show and go directly to their M&G assignment.

I really wanted to give this a chance. My family would always make it a point to catch "The Welcome Show". It always brought tears to my eyes and just gave me such a feeling that I was in a magical place. This was so darn dull and uninspired. Nothing special at all. No warm and fuzzy feeling and no family of the day??? I missed the Trolley Singers and their lip synching. They could have done better. Hopefully they will improve it. Yeah, probably not.:(

They do not care about warm and fuzzy. They want you to go to starbucks and other places open to buy things.

They couldn't even bother to write a new musical number? It feels so empty and sparse without it. No energy at all.

On a positive note: At least I'll have nothing to be upset about when my bus doesn't make it there in time for rope drop anymore.
HA! good point! everytime we have breakfast at chef mickey we pull into the station right as the train pulls in so i know we'll miss it then but it's just such a bummer

Nothing exactly wrong with the new show, I'm glad they kept an opening show, but I miss the citizens of Main Street welcoming you and singing. It's lost it's charm, like a lot of things in the Magic Kingdom. Meh.

Why do people get bothered that some don't like the new show? It's just an opinion. If you like it, more power to you :) It's not "hating change just to hate change". I personally prefer the old show. Doesn't mean this one is "bad" though.

Does anyone know if the Trolley Singers will still perform on Main Street USA? I understand why they had to move the welcome show and not complaining about that. My family will still show up early to MK because we are early risers anyway, but it won't be for early magic shopping. Maybe we will finally be able to read all the names on the windows without rushing past. Won't bother watching the stage show though. We will probably choose a land to go to first and just wait near the ropes.

Setup makes perfect sense. The execution is lackluster.
Ok. I can understand your thoughts there. I just think it is absolutely necessary to have people inside the park, Losing the train entrance is sad for many I'm sure, but with the world we live in today I think it's a good compromise.

..and on a lighter note, I still would rather be standing on Main Street with a coffee or bagel in hand instead of standing coffeeless outside in a crowd. ;)

Agreed. I mostly travel off peak, but still noticed how much of a mess the train station was during opening. That was a disaster waiting to happen. It was a necessary move. I just wish it looked like they put any effort at all into the new show. Especially when the old one was such a fan favorite.

Sums up many of my criticisms of recent changes actually. Taking the right action in the wrong way. The broader canvas of the castle stage could have been their excuse to plus the opening show. Make it even grander in scope. Instead they did the opposite.
