Briefly, the STOLPort was a Short TakeOff and Landing airstrip built with WDW Phase One, just east of the MK autoplaza. It was never properly used, and became a bus driver training area. It`s just a long wide concrete road to nowhere.
martin.... didnt a small prop job plane have to make an emergency landing there once? or is that an old wise tale.

Is that info WDW specific? It's pretty much verbatim the rumor for Disneyland CM previews, where the studios are being sticky about showing the ride to anyone before the movie comes out, but by wdw's opening date the movie's already been out a week and a half.

Both versions open up on July 7th and the movie opens on July 7th. The rule goes for both parks-both versions of the ride-both teams of cast members. This is a serious deal for Disney.

Ever since Everest footage was leaked from the Passholder Preview, they made sure that they wouldn't let that happen again. I expect that this new procedure will happen with all new attractions.

Officially, Disneyland's POTC is scheduled to reopen to all guests on June 26th, following the premiere of the film at the park on the 24th.

Only WDW's POTC is scheduled to reopen to all guests on July 7th, the day the film opens.

I imagine that by the time WDW's reopens, the Disney internet community and those interested will already know what to expect from the numerous videos and photo reports that will likely be available by the evening of the 26th

In reference to Barbossa being in the new POTC movie.

http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808556813/cast

The cast list on the site above lists Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa among the cast members for Dead Man's Chest. So the theory that he is in the movie is confirmed. However for all we know he may only appear in possible flashback sequences. But it would be cool if hes alive, he was a great villain.

That is pretty stupid of Disney then, but I thought the plan was to sync up the dates so that the two rides and the movie opened together.

We will probably have photos (at the least) by the 27th-So lets wait 14 more days to see.

I'm a little surprised that (according to this) they're not updating the fire effect in the burning town at all.

Yes, it looks fine, but one would think that in 40 years something much more realistic could be put in there than lighting and blowing sheets... Digital projection or something? Who knows.

I just thought for sure that would be part of the update.

I could have sworn I remembered reading somewhere that they were in fact updating that effect. I'll have to dig around to see if I can remember where I saw it. I may be wrong and just going nuts. :p

I don't know how true this is.. but I was on the Keys To The Kingdom tour last year and our tour guide told us that the fire effect they originally had for the ride was replaced because it was too lifelike and the fire chief-inspectors said this would cause too much panic... if anyone knows this to be true, please respond...

See, I thought I read that, too.

I guess there's always a chance that it's being updated and just not in the list of improvements that they released... But it sure seems like something that would have been considering the types of things that were included.

I thought it was the other way around... That WED created the current fire effect, then the fire chief freaked out when he saw it because he thought it was real. Kind of a "pat yourself on the back" situation.

Thanks for the info! It all sounds really exciting. Just a question though, will Geoffry Rush, Johnny Depp, and Bill Nighty be using their own voices for the animatronic characters? I sure hope so, because I would hate to see some cheap immitating voices instead.

* The new dialog of Captain Jack Sparrow, Davy Jones and Barbossa was voiced by the actors in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

The voicing of the animatronics is done by the respective actor to his animatronic. No fakes like in Indiana Jones, this is the real deal! :sohappy:
