Why did Pirates stop using the expanded queue space between Pirates and Treehouse? It wasn't amazing, but there was a lot of space there and nothing needed to be removed.
There is still a little bit of space there, but the deeper space interior space was removed when Indy was built.

They should relocate the bread bowl spot next door and get rid of the Haunted Mansion store next to it and expand the line through there. It is much needed and the Haunted Mansion is getting its own store by the ride exit anyway.

Well the idea is, based on the rumor as it hasn't been confirmed yet this is actually happening, is that the Royal Street Veranda quick service (bread bowl spot) is being removed (not relocated) and a new extended queue (possibly dedicated for ILL/LLPP) will be created using that spot.

The HM store is rumored to be going away too. I guess they could relocate bread bowls to the far end next to Po8 but that would be eating into the queue space. Or bread bowls and whatever else they sell could move to Harbour Galley, Tiana’s Place or a combo of both. Instead of selling three kinds of gumbos they can sell 2 and the Clam Chowder.

I hope so because POTC can create such a headache at the front of NOS. How long has the rumor been going around for?

Experienced the queue tonight at about 11pm. They knocked it out of the park. Talk about plussing up an attraction; this not only elevates the Mansion but kicks all of New Orleans Square up a notch. The theming is tasteful and subtle (no childish stuff like at WDW), but it’s the music that might be the real star; creates a sense of excitement/anticipation that wasn’t there before. It was worth losing Magnolia Park for this.

As for the new park area, it’s a downgrade but still very pleasant. They’ve added some benches since the initial unveiling, which is a win. I sat and listened to some of Fantasmic tonight on one of those benches, and it was lovely.

I waited 40 minutes in line, and the queue was not fully occupied. That’s a good sign. I don’t want to speak too soon, but if they actually tackle the Pirates queue, we might see NOS overcrowding “fixed” within our lifetime.

Looking forward to experiencing the area during the daytime.

Cons: The music is a little loud. I don’t love hearing it from the NOS station or from Tiana’s Palace. Maybe they’ll adjust the volume slightly after the initial opening weeks. Also it didn’t seem like there’s a ton of shade in the queue. And as of right now, I still hate the carriage house.

It often feels like WDI just doesn’t get it. And then they deliver things like this Mansion queue or the Adventureland Treehouse or (going back a few years) the Tropical Hideaway. I don’t know what to make of that, but if it comes down to the individuals who led these projects — Disney, please assign these same brilliant people to all future delicate Disneyland projects. Let them fix the Pirates queue. Trust them with reimagining Tom Sawyer Island and Tomorrowland. Get them to fix Tiana’s.

Also, am I crazy, or is there an animated skeleton swaying from a noose above us at the end of the Haunted Mansion Holiday stretching room? I somehow never noticed this until tonight. If the rumor about the regular version’s hanging man is true, I’m surprised they haven’t also scrubbed this image from the holiday overlay.

It’s true, some designers are simply better than others. But I think the bigger problem is when edicts come down from corporate. Uninspired directives won’t turn out very well no matter who designs them.

I agree to an extent but a savvier more experienced team would know how to implement some creative work arounds and not deliver the bland uninspired mess that is TBA. Half of us here could have written a better story than what they ended up with and my guess is many on the team probably tried. Probably too many cooks in the kitchen as well as inexperienced and/ or stubborn creative leads.

I think it’s just a case of having bigger fish to fry. You are a super fan and only recently noticed so I doubt it was a high priority for them. I wouldn’t take it as any sort of sign that the hanging man is safe.

As much as I loved Magnolia Park I’d have to agree. FB is calling it Magnolia Court now. I think I’ll run with that over NOS Train Station entry plaza lol. Anyway is the park/ court itself as nice as it was? No IMO but it’s much more functional and they added some nice features. The extended HM queue and what’s left of MP feel classy and it fits in with the rest of the land as if it’s always been there.

I was wondering about the music. They’ll have to turn it down. Especially since the band at Tiana’s is so close. Then again I’m still confused on why I can’t hear music at Hungry Bear- not that I have a problem with it. Hahah.

Now that I’ve seen how they re using that band they should have just left that stage alone and behind a planter. Now people are either clogging up the area watching the band or passing by and only seeing their backsides.

Probably, but I think most of their problems would’ve been solved by including Dr. F, and if he was ruled out because of some higher up edict that we must be sensitive to how voodoo is represented, then the superior creative solutions were taken off the table.

And sometimes, even extremely talented creators produce bad work because of a stifling environment.

It's been there since they switched to an animated projection.

They were using it when I was there last week. It's not a huge space. Just goes back a little ways then turns back around. I noticed some cases marked Fantasmic! back there along with some stanchions being stored.

They still use it. But sometimes it messes with Lightning Lane.
This was what they were doing when I was there:

(Green: standby, red: LL)

They would just halt the standby line when LL people came to let them cross.
