This is a great question, since these type of wraps have probably never seen the type of life expectancy WDE will try to get out of them. My guess is, though, they will only get worse and not better with time. If there weren't unwrapped cabins in the mix people wouldn't know what they were missing. Plus, there are some IPs still not represented. As soon as Chapek figures that out, I'm sure the rest will be wrapped.
Strollers will be loaded in the "regular" area (slow-moving gondola). The stationary loading positions will be for wheelchair/ecv/special needs access. Will there be a separate loading area for strollers? Or will they be in the regular loading area?
Interesting safety requirement... certainly not one I've heard of before for other transportation options. Evac is far down on the list.. much less so than say 'emergency services required for bus crashes' or monorail stoppages.
They can't use phones to reach EMS if needed?
your thoughts on the monorail beam's?With all there is to see when riding the Gondola's you are looking at the support towers. Hmmm! Please remember the Gondola's are not an official "attraction" they are meant to be for transport from the resorts to the parks. I noticed a lot of the tires on the buses are dirty, what a fail! Oh, and on the ferry's there is a visable water stain line, it just about ruined my vacation.
no judgment required, in test and adjust mode, and designed to continuously move...if it cable stops at Caribbean station then the cable stops at Epcot too...Lines tonight at IG station for CM previews(not normal crowds) after Illuminations. Not going to comment but you judge for yourself.View attachment 413773
sorry to hear but I am sure you will do the proper thing and don't let others on to catch your cold in a confined space...I have a terrible cold. Nevertheless, barring further reports to the contrary, I'll be there later today!
My comment about the wraps was partially tongue in cheek. My assumption is that TDO will try to double the life expectancy of these wraps. Funny thing is a nice paint job with clear windows would have been cheaper and cheaper to maintain. Imagine that.Wut? Vinyl wraps have been used for AGES in much more harsh climates and for long periods. Vinyl wraps have a finite life... this is expected. But they are also easily removed and replaced. This is a non-issue.
Yes, I know, but they are also smaller targets compared to the surrounding structures. An airplane is all by itself with no distractions. However, the results are the same. No real affect. As I said, those on the ground are at a much higher risk then those in the Gondola's. If it were me and we were in the middle of a thunder-boomer I would be knocking over old ladies and kids to get to the Gondola's.Motion or still has nothing to do with it. Airliners get hit all the time.
The gondolas are safer because they are hanging under a grounded steel cable.
I agree with everything except that last sentence. The storms in Florida go through very quickly, there is no need to stop the object in motion that tends to stay in motion than to stop them and have to start the whole thing up again. It would take more electricity to start up the tons and tons of cable and Gondola's then to just keep them moving right along. One of the bloggers reported that a Skyliner cm told him:
There was a post way back (like months ago) that some Doppelmayr engineers had said, "Of course they're safe during lightning," so Disney will be shutting down for an abundance of caution, and for Guest perception of safety.
- When lightning is detected within a certain distance (I think it was 6 miles), boarding will be discontinued, but riders will be permitted to continue to their destination.
- If riders are still on board when lightning is detected within 3 miles, all will be required to disembark at the next station.
- When no lightning has been reported within a certain distance for a certain time period, boarding will resume.
If they're not boarding, there's really no reason to keep them running. Might as well stop the cable and save a bit of electric.
Not sure I understand the question. If you are asking if the staining and weathering of the beams that have been sitting out there and have thousand upon thousands of rubber tired vehicles traverse them for almost 50 years bother me, well that is normal and unavoidably a huge waste of money to do anything about. I don't ride directly on the rails, I ride in the train itself and cannot see them from my above it all vantage point. Even if I could I realize that they don't go out and scrape the rubber off the roads that wind through the resort. The fantasy is not with the transportation, it is with the attractions that the Monorail Trains and now the Gondola's carry us too. Focus is important. Focusing on the utilities is a good way to suck the enjoyment out of anything we care to mention.your thoughts on the monorail beam's?
I know . I was planning to use my ecv, so I would have had a private cabin. But I stayed home when I read it wasn't really open to the public.sorry to hear but I am sure you will do the proper thing and don't let others on to catch your cold in a confined space...
I was thinking that they seem to be stopping every few minutes anyway.I agree with everything except that last sentence. The storms in Florida go through very quickly, there is no need to stop the object in motion that tends to stay in motion then to stop them and have to start the whole thing up again.
