I believe someone already pointed these out several pages ago, but are these charging contacts?

I'm excited to see how the gondolas look operating at Epcot. Having something kinetic behind the world showcase pavilions could really add something neat to the experience.

Also, watching whatever lake show is running at the time from that height (when you're close enough in the gondolas to see it) could be quite cool.

Except for around the International Gateway you won't see the gondolas from inside the park.

So I had a random thought the other day. Pulling into the gondola headfirst should be pretty easy on the ECV.

But what about backing out? We all know the drivers are worse at backing them they are driving forward. So if they do not have the double bull wheel at all stations... what does that mean?

Do you think they make them back the ECV into the gondola on the stopped line so that they can exit easier when there is not a double bull wheel?

That's a good point, they may be how they deal with the ECV and wheel chairs at Riviera. Load them backward at other stations, and load them forwards at Riviera.

These look like Conductix-Wampfler brand current collectors 081101, rated for 16 or 55 amps. I could be wrong on the family of current collectors but I am pretty sure on the brand.

possible uses:
battery changing for AC system ( I am still doubting this one as it looks like #16 wire going thru the cord grip )
In gondola speakers for loading and unloads ( please stand clear of the doors, por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas)
Electronic monitoring of the mechanical door system ( not sure if this is done on other existing Doppelmayr units but it would not surprise me if this was a add on for Disney to make it consistent with the other hardware at the parks)

I did find this online published Oct 16th

My personal bet is door monitoring

I had pondered loading and unloading ECV also. Spent my December trip in a light weight, short in length ECV, easier to handle than the WDW versions. I am beyond a cautious driver and operated my ECV in the same manner but like many guests it was my first time ever operating a ECV due to a foot injury and foot in a boot. This made me wonder if reverse would be necessary. Like many novices I struggled the few times I needed to go in reverse on the buses along with the monorail in the MK loop.

Does anyone know if it will be a flat/level on and off from platform to the gondolas or a n an incline? It was difficult at first for me to be in reverse going down a ramp with a side wall (side mirrors on these things would have helped like they do on my truck in reverse). I can't imagine how much more difficult it would be to try and load in reverse and negotiate an uphill incline boarding process. If the platform load area is level where platform meets the gondolas door I'd be less concerned about a reverse load.

OK, I give up! I can see the alleged bracket that is riding on the top of the cable, but, what is holding it there? What "thumb" like set up is locking it on the cable. It has to be more then just gravity doesn't it? Right now the "charging" apparatus is the least of my concerns.

It's hard to see in that picture you can get a better look at it here. It grips the sides of the cable, not the bottom. The two big springs keep the jaws closed around the cable. When it enters the station the bar between the springs get forced down releasing the grip.
