Out of curiosity, what does the horn do?
I can't imagine too many gondolas are getting cut off on a routine basis... ;)

Horn probably sounds when an alarm is issued as a second means of notice so if you are away from the panel you are warned something needs your attention. Once you are in control you reset the horn for next alert.

IMO, it's hard to imagine why WDW would want to expand the gondola system once complete where they're building it now. Where they're building it now is a large concentration of onsite guests that happens to form a pretty straight vertical line, and it's geographically close to two parks. That's a perfect setup for a gondola system. Other resorts (not yet served by non-bus transportation) tend to be separated from each other by larger distances, and are usually farther from parks. I do think it's odd that AKL has not yet been connected to AK by some form of direct, non-bus transportation. I think it will happen someday, but there are probably some easier ways to do it, and for probably less money than gondolas.

That's why there is currently no credible reports that other routes are actually planned.

It's not a Doppelmayr, but still would be really scary if this ever happens on the Skyliner. No one was hurt, but still really sketchy.

TDO needs to get their act together...Copper Mt is already testing drop killing.

@Bender123 this article was linked and discussed a few pages back. Here's a quote to the beginning of the discussion.

Oh, they want their CBR, Pop, AoA price increases as much as we want to ride the gondolas.

Those three resorts do not have a significant price increase this year going all the way to the end of December 2019 (any more than the usual price creep that all the resorts experience).

If WDW is going to "hike" the prices for those resorts, it ain't happening in 2019 and will have to wait until 2020.

[I already have my reservations at Pop for the first weeks of October and December.]

There was some discussion some pages back about one tower that appeared to have been taken down. Is there any news on that? Was it indeed put up and taken down, or just hadn't been put up yet in the first place? If the former, are they going to have to realign the base?

It was definitely taken down, since there was a picture posted here where it was in place. Blog Mickey just did an update and you can see work going on at the foundation of that tower. Looks like they have also put something temporary in place to guide the cable into the station.

Thanks for that. That update is worth a search for a lot of reasons besides just this question. The video of the cable pull is awesome and informative. I think all the cool kids are looking at that update rather than hanging out here. ;)
