News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner -

Those three resorts do not have a significant price increase this year going all the way to the end of December 2019 (any more than the usual price creep that all the resorts experience).

If WDW is going to "hike" the prices for those resorts, it ain't happening in 2019 and will have to wait until 2020.

[I already have my reservations at Pop for the first weeks of October and December.]
They still have to pay for the Gondola's, once they are approved and operational. So they will have to keep the buses running and expense the Gondola's while they wait for some random rate increase date. At best that would be lousy management and wasteful spending. Besides the Gondola's themselves are going to be a major draw, so what would be gained by waiting. When they are ready it will open. If there is any delay it would have to be for the new resort to open, but, I don't think even that would be worth it.

TDO needs to get their act together...Copper Mt is already testing drop killing.

@Bender123 this article was linked and discussed a few pages back. Here's a quote to the beginning of the discussion.

They can always honor previously reserved room prices, and still hit all newcomers with a rate increase. (Just like they did with the parking fees) :)

@Lift Blog IF they add AK would they have to close the skyliner?

It depends. Three possible ways they could go about adding a Hollywood Studios to Animal Kingdom line:

1) build a new gondola. Passengers would have to transfer at Hollywood Studios.

2) build a new gondola with cabins interlining between the two sections. Downtime: a few months.

3) Modify the existing gondola to be longer with a mid-station at Hollywood Studios. Downtime: 6 months+.

I'm curious - if the system is supposed to soft open for passengers in April/May, could it be possible that the Riviera station could serve as a functioning station, but only for Aruba guests?

Look at Priceline to see the rooms Disney is dumping during Christmas week. They're willing to cut prices to get their occupancy numbers up because they’re so soft. They won’t have to do that for resorts with Skyliner stops once it’s open.

It was definitely taken down, since there was a picture posted here where it was in place. Blog Mickey just did an update and you can see work going on at the foundation of that tower. Looks like they have also put something temporary in place to guide the cable into the station.
So wait a minute here. Disney knows how to take down a base conctrete foundation with a big structure on it, fix the conctrete foundation and put that big structure back up... hmmmm. Oh wait, this isn't Disney, this is the company that puts up gondolas for a living. Maybe Disney should send them over to Animal Kingdom. I hear there is a foundation there that needs fixin' :)

I gave up on going back pages on this thread...Pick any random page and its some weird talk about gondola killing methods, "wish it was a monorail..." and people thinking that TDO uses a dartboard for all decisions.

Yet here you are once again posting and stirring the pot. Slow day at work?

I don't stir the pot...its everybody's choice if they want to listen to the insiders that know, the people with the background to verify the insiders statements and the people with the technical knowledge of a system like this.

Everything factual is already out there. All that's left is memes and a waiting period until we can ride it.

I doubt they would extend the current station since this would require building out into the lake and as someone else mentioned, the line would go right over the park. Not only would that lead to bad back stage views it would make evacuations difficult. If they were to extend the line I think they would go with a second station at DHS that went south over the parking lots and the turned and went along Osceola Parkway. Of course this is all a blue sky discussion since insiders have said that other methods of transportation are being looked at for AK.
