When are these going to be fully functional?
Disney is still saying Fall, but there is a strong belief that they will be carrying guests before Galaxy's Edge opens.
When are these going to be fully functional?
The opening/closing mechanism is at the bottom of each window frame, and traverses a channel that is below the main screened area.I had thought someone mentioned that there were screens on the inside to prevent anyone from throwing things out of the gondola. If true, then the vents could only be operated from outside the gondola.
No Gondola For Old Men.Two families enter, one family leaves.
No, it was manually.I think it was by hand.
Two families enter, one family leaves.
There's a video of a CM closing the vents using a handle on the inside. I'll attach it once I find it.
Ok, starts at 3:27 if the link doesn't get you there in the first place.
As you can see, anyone can open and close those vented windows.
...and you win the threadOne side will be open and cool and one side will be closed and hot. Not unlike the McDLT. I know only a few of you will get that reference because I'm old.

Ever been on the monorail? Or buses?Quite honestly, if those vents are closed and I'm sharing my ride with some folk who had recently indulged in any number of gaseous food items, I'll be crying too.
Ever been on the monorail? Or buses?
The worst offender was 20K...Ewww.Or an elevator. Or the stretching room. Or Enchanted Tales with Belle. Or Mission Space...
That was theming. Submarines are supposed to be smelly inside. The worst offender was 20K...Ewww.
I *wish* that at closing of the MK a bus would show up for my resort once every 7 minutes. That would be heaven.
Also, EVCs won't hold up the line since they get their own boarding line (except at Riviera).
Is that because we can't go longer than a few minutes without "going" or because we are ECVs?No Gondola For Old Men.
I haven't been on a Monorail in four years or so, but, unless the odor within the Monorails is different then it was after that, they have had the same odor since 1983. It worked like the smell of popcorn, it had it's own distinct odor and was always the same. I always just assumed it was the bacteria killing chemical that was used to clean the Monorails that created that odor, I don't know that for sure, but, up until that point in time, I always remember them smelling the same. It has always seemed to me that the source was always a guess on the part of people that really couldn't identify it so they put the worst label on it that they could think of. Mold, could be, but, that would leave Disney open to many lawsuits from illnesses and allergies. At least they won't smell like AC mold like the monorails.

Why are we calling windows "vents"?
