Probably planning to "officially open" several things on the same day, that way it saves money by not having multiple events.
Why do you think those events cost anything, silly person?

9 months sounds about right then. 4 days for CMs to train on operating the equipment and 266 days to learn how much free stuff to give away for each complaintThe gondola I’m in charge of opens next week for ski season. Usually all 25 operators have never run a lift before. They arrive on Monday, train in a classroom for two days, practice at the lift for two days, then we open. Basically the same machine as the Skyliner.

Scary...I was an operator full time on a gondola and part time on lifts and magic carpets and I never received any formal training or supervisoion. The only real training I got was from other operators that started a few days before me.
There was an orientation day but it wasn't job specific.
Fall 2019 is a surprising and pretty disappointing opening time for the Gondolas. I would not have guessed there was still a year's worth of work to be done. Honestly was expecting like May, but that was mostly me hoping to ride them on my trip to AoA that month LOL. Ah well, that's the Disney construction pace for ya.
Scary...
You wouldn't have guessed there was still a year's worth of work, because there isn't.

Doppelmayr did apologize yesterday for a three week delay in completing Whistler Blackcomb's new gondola.

Construction began in April and will now be complete by December 14th.
So, why? Coordination with the Riviera? Significant soft opening period to get a figure on buses still needed, weather, or...? Beats the heck out of me.
My guess is fall is when it will be fully open. It might open earlier only serving some stations and then of course Rivera stop won't operate until Fall.
Most likely an indication of when they intend to officially open the system. Doesn’t account for potential and likely soft opening with guests. But the announcement from Disney says it will "begin" transporting guests fall of 2019.
Two months of learning the two keys.Wait, they don't have two months of classes training in skiing traditions, history, and culture?!!
