Unfortunately, the only fuel that generates suitable electricity for the gondolas is endangered whale blubber.
Don't forget the huge lighting bolts that will be hitting all those lightning rods (AKA cable support towers) Disney is stretching across the property...

You'd think they would harness that energy to power the gondolas, but nope...just need that electricity to cook the whale blubber to make...um...electricity...ah...um...

All this talk about the people that will refuse to ride the gondolas due to fear...and I wonder how this compares to the number of people that refuse to take the bus because of (how long it takes, refusing to stand for long periods of time, etc). There is a lot more of the second group than most realize. Makes me wonder if there will be any noticeable change in the number of people that drive from the gondola resorts and instead use the gondolas to these two parks.

LOL go over to the parks section, there is now a contingent worried about the destruction of the back entrance to World showcase because of the Gondola.

I really wish I had the kind of life where I could start worrying about a theme park addition almost 18 months before it even happens.

That was my intention in bringing up my point.
It wasn't for any personal concern.
I am simply wondering if the number of people staying at a given hotel that will board a gondola might be significantly less than that which would board a bus or monorail.
I'm supposing the fear factor for this means of transportation leaves more people out than the other modes do.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Years ago, in the stone age, before cell phones with camera's, there was nothing simpler then parking at Disney. You had a numbered, labeled row and before the phones they had you repeat over and over what row you parked in. I mean over and over. I still remember my first one in 1983. I was parked in Goofy 16. At the end of the day they'd stop in the area covering all of the Goofy area and you just found your row number walked down the row until you found your car. I don't think it could get any simpler until now. Now they don't make you memorize it, but all you have to do is take a quick picture of your row/number save in your phone and you will never be lost. It just seems that some people search for ways to make their life complicated.
I not only snap a pic of my row/number, I post it in my live trip report, so y’all know where I parked too. 🙂

First I would like to make clear that I love the idea of the gondolas. I think they will be great. They will be a thousand times better than buses and more efficient than my beloved monorails. I do no think they they need AC as the flow of air when they are moving for the short distance they travel will be pleasant enough. But as I have thought about all the situations that could occur only one issue kinda scares me. I don't think it will happen very often but when it does it could be really uncomfortable. At some point every long once in a while the system will stop for some situation that could leave you sitting in a gondola with 7 other people, on a hot summer day, in the direct sunlight, on a day with no breeze. Lets say it takes 10-20 minutes to start moving again. How hot will it get in there? Lets say that hot, breeze less day that your stuck in the direct sun is the one day in the decade they have to evacuate the cabins and it takes hours to get to your cabin. How hot will it get in there? I've only been in ski gondolas on the mountain in the winter (lots) and a large one in Hong Kong in the summer all of which have windows you can lower. If the Disney ones only have vents and no windows that open, I could see it getting uncomfortably hot in these very rare situations. Thoughts?

So I know this is a bit of snark going back and forth here, but there was an article that said that the solar farms would supply 25% of the power for WDW at peak sunlight (or whatever the proper term is). I think that's what it said. I don't care enough to check if I'm right.

As for the carbon footprint, don't know and don't care. You can hammer punch lemurs in the face as long as the product is worth my money.
Omg what a visual! I am in the airport waiting for my flight in tears laughing.

Why are you stopping? Other systems have very high reliability.

Call me crazy, but I’d never get in a gondola in an earthquake prone area like Southern California...

I enjoy risk and excitement in my life, but swinging about on a cable inside a detachable glass box on a wire while the earth rocks back and forth just doesn’t sound that fun to me...

So, when in Southern California you also don't go into or stand/walk/drive by any multi-story buildings, too?
