It depends on how "scooter friendly" the cruise line is. If the cruise line doesn't accommodate them, there won't be many passengers using them. If the port excursions do not accommodate them , the same. But if both the ship and excursions are friendly towards those with mobility issues, the numbers will increase.

WDW has been very accommodating towards those with mobility issues, which is why you see so many guests using scooters - they know they can.

Due to an ankle injury twice in a year I've rented a scooter from a vendor. Some areas of Disney and Disney transportation accommodate better than others. Me I'd like to see a bike lane...scooter lane in parks. Just give a narrow piece of real estate for that. The scooters are so easy to operate but guests are stupid and jump in front of scooters. I've yet to hit anyone but a few twits due to their own stupidity nearly got clipped and they would have posted about the dang scooters. I think I'd like the skyliner as much as the monorail or even the boats. The buses are horrid to park and the load times are crazy. At the University of Illinois the most accessible University, their buses drop to the curb. You roll right on and pull straight into a flat spot. Disney buses and parallel parking the scooter is not very accommodating. Uber accommodates better than buses. Goal not to have scooter in December trip but I'd like to have had the opportunity to try loading one on the skyliner.

So people who may be down in WDW right now, how's the Skyliner situation going? Running well? Constant stops? Have operations been getting better at running this thing?

We just got back and I really enjoyed the Skyliner. It was very efficient and a fun way to get around. Was there a stop? Yes one day, but as a skier this happens from time to time on a mountain that has been using them for years. People need to learn this is a new situation and glitches will occur.

As a commercial contractor, I hate to bust anyone’s perceptions but just because it is drawn on paper, it doesn’t mean problems will not occur. Sometimes it happens by design, sometimes by the builder, sometimes by the end user. It is only the first few months and I think it was great and they did a good job.

Wow. How did that add anything to the conversation? Perhaps daily wasn't quite the right choice of words but none the less way too much definitely is.

Feel better now? ( rhetorical, no real reason to respond)
Actually, the downtime since the incident is daily in some sense. Every day the Skyliner is opening later than what was scheduled, affecting the plans of many people. Disney posted Skyliner hours in September. HS at 5:45am every day in October and 6am and 7am openings for November. Now none of the lines open prior to 8am since the incident in early October.

DHS isn't doing early openings anymore is it? It's not on the wdw calendar. If neither park is opening early, there is no reason to run the skyliner early.

Skyliner had posted a HS schedule for everyday at 5:45am in October. That was cancelled and moved to 8am after the incident.

I'm saying right now DHS is posting 9am openings. Do you have something you can point me to saying otherwise? I'm not talking about October...

Disney has now taken these schedules down from their site. They have been recorded on this page:

easy wdw
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Galaxy’s Edge Situation Report with an Afternoon Visit

This also shows what WDW posted re: Nov and Dec Skyliner hours as of October 5th.

Again... You're pointing at the Skyway operating hours... yet failing to click that the transportation options are going to be driven by the park operating hours. If the park isn't opening early (because SW:GE crowds don't dictate it anymore) the skyliner isn't going to open 2+hours before the park when the park has no pre-opening activities.

They aren't delaying opening of DHS due to the skyliner...

Look, not trying to jump on you here, but in this particular case the two are directly connected. Most WDW transport begins operating about 1 hour prior to park opening. If DHS opens at 9, the Skyliner, buses, and boats generally begin running at 8. Sure, the Skyliner schedule changed, but we suspect it is because the park hours also changed.

The fact of the matter is:
Disney posted those hours, viewable to all into the first week of October. Skyliner schedules for Oct, Nov and partial Dec.
They changed them. Suspect what you like, but they were changed. Immediately after the 'incident'.

WDW does not post things lightly. If they did, we sure as heck wouldn't have seen 3hr EEMH continue for over 2 months at HS.

The point is that transposition hours are set based on park hours. They wouldn’t run the skyliner several hours before the parks open. If they changed the hours from what was originally posted they either posted them by mistake or intended to have earlier park hours.
