News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner -

This was my assumption, since I figured it would save six figures. At the same time, we have a growing population of ECV/wheelchair users. I don't think they will want them moving in/out of the cabins at creep speed. I have a feeling lots of people on a really long line are going to be sitting still while they load and unload people. I hope I'm wrong.

I'll take a look in the operating guide when I can put my hands on it again. It's 140 pages and based on my brainpower tonight (see above) it might take a minute to locate the info. I just can't imagine they will want someone driving in/out while moving.
I use a personal ecv in the parks. If I can get past this cold that's been tormenting me, I plan to come down Sunday and test out the ecv load/unload process myself.

I am loving all the videos of the Skyliner on YouTube and I can’t wait to ride them next year.

I hope more phases are already in the pipeline.

Could they do one that connects the All star Resorts and AKL to Animal Kingdom and Blizzard beach?

Or Disney springs going to the Port Orleans, Old Key West and Saratoga Springs Resorts?

I'm both scared and astonished by the Pop/Aoa section. It seems to get very close to the water.
They're not actually as close to the water as they look. Look at the screen cap below. The bottom of the cabin looks to be above the water by about 2 cabin heights. The interior height of the cabins is 7.28 feet, so the cabin is 15' or more above the water. That happens to be the minimum height range that was quoted in an Orlando Sentinel article.

Well I've rode the Skyliner circuit 2.5 times now and am happy to report ... I'm not dead!

Had a pretty good time. It was relatively fast, stayed a bit cooler than the outside temp*, and only had a minor stutter loading on the moving gondola**.

* I will note that the more covered character wrapped gondolas felt noticeably cooler, but I don't have anything to back that up.
** I have vertigo so I had a little jerk on the slight direction change stepping on the gondola.

So, these videos just make this look fun.
I really hope it does handle the crowds as much as most have speculated.

If so, this is going to be quite the awesome addition to the parks!

So, after people being afraid of the gondola heights, we now have people afraid of the gondola lowghts.

I don't quite get the fear.
But I would imagine that those who are unfamiliar with the path of the gondola's (which is likely to be most first time riders) might find that segment of the journey a bit odd.
