People getting sloppy drunk should not happen at all in a family amusement park. People who do it should be kicked out, potentially banned.

And no, I don't care if you think I would "be fun at parties".

Go Back in Time

The name GEO-82 is a nostalgic nod to Spaceship Earth—which opened in 1982. At GEO-82, you’ll be immersed in the storied history and enduring legacy of this timeless EPCOT icon.

Oh. I thought maybe it was something clever with coordinates or the degree of Earth's axis or something.

Should've known better.

Actually, there is an expanding market for high-priced mocktails but, as others have said, if capacity is low here, that’s unnecessary. Oga’s has a large collection of mocktails, as I suspect the pirate lounge will.

Why the hell would you want a high priced non-alcoholic drink? That's like half the benefit of not drinking!

Maybe next they can make non-alcoholic drinks that make you feel drunk.

Ironic as it sounds... Epcot kinda needs more bars and/or replace existing ones with higher capacity ones?

Existing Epcot Bars
  • Space 220 Lounge - small
  • Choza de Margarita - always busy
  • La Cava del Tequila - jam-packed & small
  • Tutto Gusto - just ok
  • Rose & Crown - miserable experience with how crowded it is
  • Block & Hans
  • Regal Eagle bar
The rest are snack stands serving pre-mixed or canned drinks.

Interesting. And only 3 of those are inside.

It's pretty obvious they will have drinks themed to extinct Epcot attraction right?
  • Figment's Purple Imagination Lemonade
  • Dreamfinder's Old Dreams Fashion
  • Electric Universe of Energy Lemonade
  • Horizons Daiquiri
  • World of Margarita Flight
  • Drinks Rocks!

With few exceptions (Palo, Remy, Cove Cafe), that’s only at night. Quite a different market, too. They encourage you to put your kids in the Oceaneer Club so you can go. No such option at WDW. I’m sure they imagine Disney Adults can fill this one bar. We will see.

To be fair, this is also the exception now. Though I appreciate your lens that you want to go there. But I think having a single child free space in not a super child IP’d out lounge fits a demo that there is no harm in Disney catering to.

For families with slightly older kids, drop them off at Guardians.

There’s still space for the more IP lounge/bars that are also kid friendly too (pirates, Oga’s).

It’s strange they leaned so hard into the “warm, metallic tones” when Spaceship Earth, the inspiration, is silver— literally the opposite from gold. It reads convention hotel bar to me. But everyone’s got different taste and I’m sure it’ll be slammed regardless of paint scheme.

The name seems like a big miss; it isn’t particularly catchy and they had so much history to draw from. I don’t think it’ll be long before people just call it the Geo Bar. Or worse…

“What’s that attached to the Golf Ball?”
“Oh, that’s the Golf Bar!”

Like a broken record, here I go defending an unpopular decision by Disney.

Ontop of the already discussed capacity issues this Lounge has, making this lounge 21+ will have two additional major benefits:

First, the previously mentioned relief on other popular lounges, mainly Space 220 which is much more of an exciting kid friendly experience and almost impossible to book currently.

Secondly, the Swan and Dolphin are right by EPCOT, huge convention hotels that get a high volume of visitors who never step foot in a Disney park. Despite its attempt for edutainment for all ages, EPCOT has always been thought of as the adult park. Having a 21+ space will absolutely be a draw for some visiting that may not have considered entering a park.

Also, I think a big point nobody has focused on is that nothing was taken away to make this a 21+ space. It's not like Space 220 changed its policy, or we lost a pavilion to an adults only space. This was always a space that wasn't open to the general public. Nobody's losing something they have a close emotional connection to ala Muppet Vision, or Rivers of America, or even the Shooting Gallery.

If you're excited about this, awesome! But if you're not, whatre you losing by this? You're gaining more capacity in other popular experiences, whether it be attraction lines, dining or lounges. This seems to be a pretty textbook win-win whether you chose to visit this lounge or not 🤷‍♂️

Haven’t you heard? They’re “luxury” now…and that means lifestyles of the rich and famous

And I’ll remind: Humphrey Bogaerts poured vodka over his cornflakes

Why the hell would you want a high priced non-alcoholic drink? That's like half the benefit of not drinking!

Maybe next they can make non-alcoholic drinks that make you feel drunk.

They’re inspired by the margaritaville classic: NADA Boats Drinks

What bothers me is the concept art shows a single seamless glass window across the whole back wall. The real building has large columns breaking up the windows.

Maybe at one point they were planning on redoing it to create a seamless glass facade, although I doubt that was ever feasible, but I’m sure they’re not doing that now. So who knows what else in this art isn’t accurate
