New Fantasyland Tokyo/Orlando

They've got a good idea about rebuilding IASW. From the art, it looks like the DL version. I hope this proves popular there. I would love for them to do that here!
I adore DL's Blair façade! But I love the MK façade even better. DL has got Small World as a later addition, an addendum to FL. The MK could remedy that and fully integrated IASW into FL, which is even more striking.

In the concept art they just released dumbo has been moved, here it is again for people like yourself who are easily confused

I'm not blind. Dumbo is moving to where Hunny Hunt FP distribution is located. Which is on the opposite side of the parade route as the StarJets. But I'm sure you've been to Tokyo a half dozen times and are an expert.

Dumbo is on the opposite side from the StarJets. Maybe you should stop now because you really have no idea what you're talking about

I like thesse plans! And they didn't even have to demolish toontown like DL is threatening to do. Also nice to see that it looks like they aren't vomiting certain marketable characters all over the place...

In fairness what choice does disneyland have? It was either toon town or tomorrowland. And for a park that walt was actually apart of it would be a shame to lose the original tomorrowland to star wars.

Totally disagree. Tomorrowland is nothing like what Walt built at Disneyland. Buzz Lightyear?Space Mountain? Star Tours? Finding Nemo Subs? Marvel characters? Definitely not his TL.

Toontown on the other hand seems very inspired by classic Walt and seems far more Disney-esque to me than the current heap of mismash known as Tomorrowland. I say gut that place and keep the few things worth saving and retheme the rest.

As for what's being done in Tokyo...awesome! They have the right idea. Meanwhile in Orlando, TDO decides to rip out Toontown for a circus(yuck!), take out a classic Fantasyland dark ride for a meet n greet, build a more elaborate meet n greet for ONE princess, double up on Dumbo and keep that hunk of junk gas guzzler the Speedway around in its 1971 form.

I just don't get these guys.

Walt disney had nothing to do with toon town, he did have a hand in at least the idea of tomorrowland. Even though it's a shell of it's former self the pieces that make it identifiable are still there. Sure the subs are nemo, but guess what? The subs are still THERE. You can still go on a submarine voyage and the lagoon looks beautiful. It's a shame the people mover is gone. But for a park that has the original 4 lands however changed they are they should always keep them. Disneyland was the first park, and it was walts park. But beyond that it's the tradition that is the reason why these lands deserve to stay. Tomorrowland is a staple and deserves to stay FAR more than toontown does, no matter how different it is from the original experience. Also toontown in orlando was a neutered experience to begin with and pales in comparison to disneylands. Star wars has to go somewhere and if toontown bites the bullet at least it will always have a place at tokyo disneyland.

That doesn't sound right. I would think they would at least get those two attractions I mentioned. TDL seems to be a mesh of the best of what's at DL and MK. A FLE there that includes these two attractions would continue that tradition.

What doesn't sound right? It does OLC by all accounts doesn't like mediocrity, thematically it looks like it will take cues from MK FLE ... content wise it'll be better.

If they get TLM ride it would a) be better than we get b) It would be located in TDS. Also Shanghai is splitting the costs of 7DMT with MK ... so a) can OLC get that b) why would they want that.

Quoted from the article:
The largest expansion in the history of the resort will increase capacity at both parks and will include exciting attractions, new entertainment and innovative dining experiences.

this is a lesson WDW needs to learn, rather than demolishing things and building new keeping overall capacity the same, they really need to build things which INCREASE capacity

rather than all the magic band stuff that just artficially increases capacity by directing people to lesser popular attractions

The Mine Train is a poor ride given the amount of space it takes up... pretty sure OLC would have said 'thanks but no thanks' when looking at that one.

They also have Gadget's Go-Coaster next door, as they're not closing Toontown, so the kiddie-coaster market is well taken care of already.

Toontown is a couple of M&Gs, some useless play areas, a kiddie coaster and one good dark ride.

Space Mountain alone is better than all of Toontown :D add in Star Tours and bring back the PeopleMover.. forget it lol.

Tomorrowland has a lot more potential than a kiddie area for Mickey and the gang.

Toontown houses the fab 5. Where do they go if TT gets demoed? I will be very sad over the loss of Roger Rabbits Cartoon Spin. It's a fun ride. While you may not care for the play area, it's obviously enjoyed by the kids.

In all fairness, I think Star Tours needs to be moved in whatever they do with the Star Wars land. Personally I think Disneyland needs more capacity, so I don't see why the heck they aren't building on an expansion pad instead of debating between Tomorrowland or Toontown.

This news should make WDW fans blood boil. It is so obvious how little Disney cares or values their american guests when a tiny company in Japan is giving their Disney park a far more substantial investment than the multi-billion dollar Disney megacorp will ever dare spend on new rides and attractions at Walt Disney World. I would get offended but i've seen this happening since Tokyo Disneysea in 2001. This is just the latest example especially when compared to the absolute joke of offerings at "new fantasyland" in Orlando.

That seems awfully strong given that,

1. This is only concept art.

2. The initial proposed plan makes this a ten year long project.

3. Many areas of Tokyo Disneyland, Tomorrowland especially, are quite neglected and outdated, even compared to WDW.

But haven't you see all the incredible details, interactive elements, and just incredible themeing that makes Toon Town worth visiting even for adults?

In California: Move TT to Hollywoodland. Roger Rabbit E-ticket dark ride, Mickey and Friends show/M&G

In Florida: Turn Animation Courtyard at DHS into Toontown. Connect it to Sunset. Include Toontown Trolley E-ticket, Roger Rabbit dark ride, move Mickey's Philharmagic over, Donald play area, Goofy family coaster, Chip and Dale flat ride, Fab Five M&Gs/walkthroughs.

Not that hard to move Toontown to more thematically appropriate parks that actually need something kid-friendly.

Disney is for everyone, not just the kids. If the kids get their own special area at DL/MK, two parks that are extremely all-ages experiences... why can't teens/adults similarly have their own then? 46"-54" height requirements, E-tickets galore, etc. Attractions shouldn't set out to split families apart. Making something for 2-5 yr olds is far too niche considering Walt's desire for universal appeal.

Toontown Fair was a waste of space. Toontown in DL is a nuisance since the play areas have been rendered useless due to lawyers.
