This is terrific: Because the "footprint" of a yet-to-be-built ride doesn't appear from the air to be any bigger than a long-extinct one, the ride is going to be too short and thus not worth the wait. Regardless of the descriptions given of the new ride so far and the theming involved? :hammer:

Think for yourselfer
Just a thought on ride length compared to show building size.

I am not sure if the numbers quoted before are correct or not, but lets assume they are. IASW is 45k compared to 25k for TLM. Now, think about IASW, some of those show scenes are incredibly larger. Think about how high the ceilings are, and how deep show sets are. I doubt TLM has any need for show scenes that tall and deep. I think the real question is how long is the track in IASW. That will give us a better idea on how to compare the 2.

Interesting that all the buildings are multiples of 100. How much work was THAT for the imagineers?

He was obviously rounding them off.

Anyhow, the LM building has approx. 14,600sq/ft of ride space.
Somebody, I think it was Martin, figured the track length at somewhat under 700ft....unless my memory is incorrect.
It's about a 4min ride.

Al Lutz posted today that the test cycles of TLM at DLR are coming in a little over 6 minutes, which would put it on par with their Haunted Mansion (WDW's is longer). I think the ride experiences are clones so that gives us some indication of length.

so short :(

i like that 10-12 min experience...

now for HM, i count the Foyer to load as Experience!! (and that takes a few mins)
giving you much longer time inside HM

but i dont count the long queue in say Pirates as Experience

bah, small building = small ride

like i said, its going be a LOONG wait for a short ride...
i dont mind longer waits for a longer ride...
6 mins is so short, if i have to wait 60 mins in a queue
Since when is six minutes particularly short? The Haunted Mansion is only beating it by 2 1/2 minutes.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but TLM is going to be an omnimover, correct? How often does an omnimover have an hour long wait? In a year, I could probably count the number of times the Mansion has a 60 minute wait or more on my hands.

I'm not going to guarantee you like the ride, but decrying it as short and low-capacity based off of what we know is silly.

yes, true HM doesnt get long waits... but fantasyland attactions do
yes.. TLM is for sure a high capacity ride, and they tend to like them shorter, to be able to move even more people per hour

I just like the longer experiences...

we're all just speculating, we'll know in couple of months when CA's TLM opens

and lets not forget how long the fantasyland queues get...
PP seems always to be long, when i show up
i assume TML queue will have FastPass designed into the queue from the get go

anyone know how long the ride time is for say Snow White? seems if you think about it...
we trading a ride for another ride here... or maybe you could say we trading SWSA for the mine train, and TLM is finnally a replacement for 20k

shame they still boxing into the old MK outline, and not really expanding it
(ok a little, i see SOME backlot is going away) but that service road still is the border

course dont the main fireworks launch from slightly behind that service road :)
hate to move them back...already too far back for my tastes :)

I would guess that the Little Mermaid will have comparable waits to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

There's one FL attraction that doesn't: "it's a small world." Even when you see the gigantic line that spills out of the indoor queue, you're still talking half an hour or so typically.

Why? Because it's high capacity. The dark rides, which have long lines, are low capacity. If memory serves, the hourly capacity for Peter Pan was less than half of Small World.

Being in Fantasyland isn't what makes the wait times long. What makes the wait times long is being low capacity. If I understand the ride system correctly, TLM should be pretty high capacity.

I would guess that the Little Mermaid will have comparable waits to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
That sounds about right to me. It will have Fastpass, right? So it will probably be a similar wait as far as stop-and-go, too.

I don't recall the leaked blueprints having the Tea Cups on them. Is this a larger version of those same blue prints?

As far as I know, I was using the same blueprints that were all over the internet last summer. In that image, the Tea Cups were at the bottom in the center, sandwiched between the racetrack and Pooh (and just south of the proposed Pooh Meet and Greet and Aurora's cottage). For the overlay, I used the largest image I could find, which was 944 x 645 pixels, but it wasn't more expansive (in terms of area) than any of the other copies of the leaked image.

I believe it was TP2000 who did the math based on the number of vehicles shown in the Blue Sky Cellar model. If memory serves me right, he too thought it would be just under six minutes.

When I scale the plans in CAD, I'm getting the following lengths:

Little Mermaid
Track: ~660 ft
Standby Queue: ~1200'
Fastpass Queue: ~400'

Snow White Mine Train:
Track: ~2050 ft
Standby Queue: ~870'
Fastpass Queue: ~370'

These lengths are approximate, as the scale might be somewhat off. I triple-checked the scale using scaled aerials and Google Earth's ruler tool, but those are crude methods for doing that (though I know I'm close). Too bad the leaked blueprints didn't include a graphic scale.

Anyways, just for reference, Barnstormer's track length is 780' and BTMRR's track length is 2780'. So for Snow White, we're looking at something in between (which is what the insider's have been telling us for months).

Here's a diagram for what I was measuring. Light orange is standby, dark orange is fastpass, red is combined queues and load, purple is unload and exit.

doh, thats a lot of queue... course prob nothing like the death queue at DL on indy, but big queue = they think long waits, and the ride still looks so short...
ill be under the sea and out before i know it!

Nice work.
Dwarfs' Mine nearly 3X the length of Barnstormer. Sounds about right.

Blue Sky Cellar is holding a media event at DCA. According to the imagineers, TLM will last approx. 6 1/2 minutes!
