Do we know if the Seven Dwarfs building will stretch far enough that it will occupy the space where Dumbo currently sits? Or will it's footprint only be in the area that is currently behind construction walls?

I am guessing the Castle Wall will stretch to that point.

actually it doesn't use any of the original walls as the show building was completely demo'ed years ago. the size is also many many time smaller as you could still see part of the old dry dock before the construction started as to where the original used to end. the little mermaid show building is 50% smaller the 20K show building was. 20k was massive and took almost that entire lot, now look, their fitting 3 attractions where only 1 used to be!! sad, i miss 20k even though i never was lucky enough to ride it :-( :veryconfu

I agree with the others that believe at least some of the walls were still there long after the demo and reused for Mermaid. I don't know the exact reason for this, but I'm thinking Disney had good reasons that were worthwhile!

I'm also not sure about the 20k building being that much bigger than LM. Keep in mind how much space the lagoon took up as well as the land behind it that is now cleared. Saying we are getting three attractions where one once sat really isn't accurate, although I'll take it!

The LM show building being 50% smaller is about right. Here is my estimation of the size of LM (the red line) compared to 20K. It's hard to be exact since we don't have an image looking straight down on the site when LM is there, but based on the Scott Keating images, this looks pretty close. The walls around what will be the queue area do seem to extend the full width of the 20K building

If you follow the construction from the aerial photos you can see that the two old 20K wall are reused for TLM. Here's a photo of the walls before construction of the FLE even started.

With the SW & 7 D's coaster, are folks actually going to be able to walk ALL the way around the ride? This is very odd for Disney D & E ticket rides, right? Is part of the mtn going to be a gift shop or something? A diamond jewelry store would be appropriate I suppose, for the high end clientele... How many wannabe princesses out there would love to brag that their engagement ring came from Snow White's mine?

You can walk all the way around the Matterhorn. Can't you walk all the way around Thunder in Anahiem? Could be faulty memory, but it looks possible checking a map, as well.

No, you can't walk all the way around BTMRR in Anaheim. But, you can do that at DCA's Grizzly Peak mountain which covers a much bigger area than Matterhorn does.

Thanks for posting that aerial shot of the 20k building. I guess it would make sense for that building to be so huge considering the difference in the scale of the attraction and the ride vehicles. Those subs needed some decent space to move and turn compared to an omnimover!

Again, these two attractions plus the restaurant and shops more than a fair replacement for 20k IMO.

Good point on Grizzly Peak, hadn't even thought of DCA.

You can walk around BTMRR in Anaheim if you include being able to walk all the way around the Rivers of America.

This has come up in discussion here before, and although it's been repeated a lot I can't image it actually being the reason. It might make a difference when you are renovating a house, but this expansion is costing 100's of millions of dollars, I can't image that a permit fee would be different enough to make any kind of impact on that cost.

Edit: Here is the thread that discussed this topic if anyone is interested: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?p=4335540

Working with permits, at least in PA a 100 million renovation project permit would bea flat fee. On the other hand, a 100 million $ new construction permit is a percentage of the cost. To my understanding FL and most states work this way. Buttom line is that the renovation permit may cost them $100 while a new construction may cost them $10,000. I big difference.

You might be right, but I am not convinced that those are the same walls. The Mermaid walls looks like they are being poured in the older pictures due to having plywood forms in place where the openings in the walls are now. I cant think of a reason to have those if all they did was cut holes in the existing walls from 20K.

I'm quite confident that they are the same walls. If you look at the first aerial photo you can see the back wall is still green. And if you look very closely you can even see those two "columns" on the inside of the back wall. I've seen these walls firsthand as construction has progressed, I'm not just basing this on some photos from an airplane.
