So the Rilous Carter/Dan Cockrell switch was for nothing (as of now) and the puppet Meg gets promoted? Color me confused...

me too. Talks of selling the parks and resorts division (for an asking price that is ridiculous btw) and now a ridiculous promotion? Waiting for the ace in the hole because right now I'm not seeing a winning hand...

Just when DLR fixed the Pressler/Harris mess, its going to get messed up again.

Yup! The biggest loser here is DL, who inherits (at least on a part-time basis), Meg inoverherhead Crofton.

Now that Meg has 3 properties to potentially ruin, this is gonna go downhill real fast!

The ONLY possible upside to this is that she now reports to only to Staggs.

Oh to be a fly on the wall when Lutz or a certain spirit hears about this. :ROFLOL: All those hours they spent posting to get a different outcome (in my opinion) sinks like the Titanic.

Only time will tell if this is good or bad but I have to admire the mouse for giving the back of his hand, er, I mean paw (or whatever a mouse hand is called) to a bunch of raving internet fanboy haters.

And now I see why some admire Staggs. This move shows he has backbone and that is just what is needed in my opinion. I am on the Staggs fanboy bandwagon now.:lol:

Yes because Disney does serious corporate leadership changes with an eye towards sticking it to WDW1974 & Al Lutz.

So does this make Meg jr. deputy sherriff or what?...

They are representative of a transparent PR campaign that Disney refused to bow to IMHO. Obviously the decision was made for legitimate business reasons but it is encouraging that said campaign was not a factor whatsoever in the process as the company continues to recover from past mistakes.

Cheerio.

Ok.....serious question... Not sticking up for Meg.... but......

I have never been a President of the world's largest Resort Destination or this state's largest single site employer.

Being said... I am curious as to what SPECIFIC issues people have with her.

I hear a lot of Meg bashing and just curious as to why....Again, what are some specific and measurable issues she is at fault for.

Not sticking up for her but would really like to hear what are some of her legit faults in her tenure as President.

I know people will say WDW is in bad shape... too general... I would like to hear "She reduced the budget for such and such so she could increase her yearly bonus and spend a week at Universal".

Meg has to be at least partly responsible for Pixar Pals for countdown. That is the parade that a lot of people complained to Disney about because of how short it was and how that parade looked like a costing cutting move. People thought it was a cost cutting move because how the floats looked and less people were on the floats compared to Block Party Bash.

I am not into watching daytime parades at any WDW theme park, but I have to take stock into people that actually watch daytime parades.

As President of the Resort she is ultimately responsible for everything and every decision that has happened at WDW since she began her tenure. While I don't have exact figures (though they do exist because we know that park management bonuses are tied to how much they save on their overhead expenses such as maintenance) decisions such as cutting maitenance that ends up deteriorating show quality on E-tickets, sub-par refurbs like with Splash and Space last year, putting off refurbs on other attractions like Jungle Cruise, cutting time off of firework productions, replacement of parades, closure of Pleasure Island (which I will remind you laid dormant for the following 3 years before they even sort of decided what to do with it) all while attendance and room occupancy rates have declined when the other major US theme parks have all see increases. All of these things fall on her watch.

Then of course you have the fact that it was almost 20 years since MK has had a major expansion, Epcot has had more guest areas close over the past decade than open, and Animal Kingdom's signature attraction is missing it's main star.

But it doesn't matter, because when it comes to the bottom line she's a winner no matter how you spin it.

Regardless of if she had direct input in all of these decisions or not....she is the head honcho out there, and the buck starts and stops with her.

And now selling to the Saudis doesn't seem so bad.
Lutz is going to lose it, I'm really looking forward to his next article should be a doozy. Years of bad mouthing WDW is coming back to bite him HARD

People have problems with costing moves such as changing parades because they are cheaper to run like Pixar Pals for Countdown replacing Block Party Bash for an example. There is even other stuff besides what I mentioned.

Well sort of...she shares the deputy tag with Holz. While he won't get the attention that she does; overseeing DVC, Cruise Line, and ABD is no easy task.

How do you figure? Do you think Meg Crofton is somehow going to go after Al Lutz?

Lutz never mentioned Al Weiss (that I can ever remember), so why would he care about Meg in that exact same spot?

Under Meg's watch...

-Block Party Bash was replaced with Countdown to (no) Fun.

-Pleasure Island was closed, sitting and rotting away for years.

- Until the fan community and Jim MacPhee stepped in, she wasn't going to recognize Epcot's 25th Anniversary because that would date the park and "make it seem old."

- Look at what's happened to Splash Mountain.

- She took Space Mountain off-line for nearly a year and the refurb changed very little about the ride (especially when compared to the upgrades DL's Space Mountain got)

-Nothing has been done about the mish-mash that is Future World in Epcot right now.

- The fireworks shows have gotten less spectacular because they're too expensive (the perimeters are rarely used anymore).

-The American Idol Experience arrived about 3 years too late.

-She cut Fantasmic down to a limited schedule during all but the busiest times of year.

-She's run the same variation of the MK afternoon parade forever.

And that's just off the top of my head.

I also get the distinct impression the woman just doesn't seem to love her job or Disney all that much. She doesn't come across in interviews or anything else as someone very passionate about their work.

Everyone is making great points - so I will just say....Stunned. Just stunned. Wow. Some people can just interview their way into anything, can't they?
