New Executive Structure?

Well, I have never met Meg Crofton nor have I ever had to sit behind her desk and actually do her job. So... since I have no rational idea of what the job actually consists of or what it would take to do it or how difficult it might be, I will reserve my judgment of her until I do. I mean that would be rather petty of me to say so many negative things when I havn't walked in her shoes... right? :)

This week Tom Staggs will be introducing a new excutive structure for the parks apparently, but so far it sounds like its only going to benefit Disneyland. Any thoughts? Of course you know who has the message posted about it on miceage.com but here is the snippet below.

Also being fine tuned late last week was a new executive structure for Disney Parks & Resorts that Tom Staggs will be rolling out any day now. The early buzz is that current executive Disneylanders should get more autonomy from the Florida structure that has a different way of managing their parks.

So is this the REAL meaning behind the "Disney is going to sell the parks" meeting?

Perhaps we should apologize for ousting Eisner then? Since we never got the chance to walk in his shoes and all...I mean we have no idea how hard it actually was to do his job?

We should probably stop criticizing all politicians too then...

Restructuring a division would not require such secrecy. And if, for some reason it was, then it likely is not happening as if any conclusions were reached the Company is legally obliged to announce the decision, as something this secret would clearly affect the price of shares.

He can be positive toward DL, but WDW? Forget it. Its rare to see him say something positive about WDW/TDO. And yes, I do recognize that sometimes his negativity is warranted.

Agree, I dont recall ever reading once nice comment about Disney World from him. He must really dislike the place.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs appointed Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton to the new post of president of operations in the U.S. and France. Crofton will maintain her current responsibilities as president of Disney's Orlando resort — a position she has held since 2006 — but will also assume oversight of Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., and Disneyland Paris.

Just based on that article, sounds more like Staggs came to disagree more with Rasulo's means and not the ends of the way the structure was moving.

I had a feeling that Meg was going to be promoted, so I am personally not surprised with that and I will reserve judgement for now. The thing that really surprises me and somewhat bothers me is that she is still overseeing WDW operations while taking on those greater responsibilities. I think that someone else should have been made President of the resort and then have all three of them report to her. I am also surprised that Karl Holz was put in charge of DVC with Jim Lewis now reporting to him. That cannot bode well for Jim and I really wonder why they might have gone that route.

Sounds like Al is going to need to raise his defcon level....

I hope no one thinks that it's good news that the Executive of WDW will now preside over 3 resorts. I think we have a new Pressler on our hands folks, and she is going to be more dangerous.

So the Rilous Carter/Dan Cockrell switch was for nothing (as of now) and the puppet Meg gets promoted? Color me confused...

So basically.... Meg is still in charge of WDW and NOW DL and DLP???

I hope she has some really good time management skills.
