New Everest Mist Effect?

I just rode Expedition: Everest today, and I noticed what might be a new mist effect. It's not where the previous, seemingly abandoned effect was (in the cavern near the second lift), but rather in the area where the train stops for the broken track. There was mist coming from (seemingly) overhead directly behind the train and some higher up and more toward the back-left. Is this new?

In other E:E news, the load steam was working, and Yeti was still very much in B-mode.

Nope, it's just never turned on. It's supposed to look like a cloud around the peak.

Oh my gosh, they fixed something! I feel like I should have a party to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Really? Wow, I've been riding E:E with some regularity ever since the summer after it opened, and I'd never seen this particular effect functioning before.

I think it was more supposed to look like snow blowing off the peak of the mountain rather than clouds.

But I thought someone "in the know" here on the forums (can't recall who) said that the effect wasn't what they hoped it would be, and they'd cut/removed the water lines...

EDIT: Sure enough, I did a quick search, and someone posted a video on Flickr last week of this mist effect:

see its little details like that that make the Disney parks special. I just hope this new version works and they maintain it. I also want them to restore/add other special effects in the ride (The broken yeti is inexcusable).

Why can't they add a smaller AA yeti somewhere else in the ride (like when the tracks switch) so that in case the big one at the end breaks at least you get some AA action.

Is the bird effect still working? The one where it's just flying away and screeching as you arrive at the top where the track ends?

Can we just have a hand coming round the broken track? That would be pretty cool...

I wanna work for Disney then I can spend $200 million plus on a ride and then only have half of it work as it supposed to. Figure they spent enough on it maybe they would get it work the way it was supposed to.

Good to hear it's back...nice to know something is getting fixed over there.

Now...let's get some cold mist back in the caverns.

God bless the "Ignore" button.

That would be a great replacement for that pathetic bird-on-a-stick! I know Disney would never do it, but to just get something a bit more imposing up there that, you know... works.
It is great that they're finally doing SOMETHING with that ride, though!

Not gonna' happen, like I said they cut the water lines because they thought they were rusting faster than they thought they would, so n'mo mist inside the attraction. Only water still working is Waterfall A, and that's only because they cannibalized the parts from Waterfall B, hence why it hasn't worked in ages.

To answer the main concern of the thread, yes and no. No, it isn't new, but yes it is new since it wasn't installed or part of the ride at all. It's a small ditch effort to appease the Imagineer folk. Basically they put a machine right on the overhang above Broken Trestle's cave entrance on the roof there, so if the wind is blowing just right you'll feel a bit of it as you enter the scene.

Whilst they added this, they also built another box like that onto the back of the mountain to try and approximate the intended effect they built into the mountain, didn't like, lost as part of the water line cutting.

Everest suffers from the curse of the great new ride, after awhile all the people who really care for the ride move on and the people who replace them stop listening to the Cast Members who still do. After awhile they move on, and now alot of the Cast don't even know what's supposed to work and what's not. This means a great ride is in the hands of people who get ahead by cutting corners, even if it means losing effects and safety at a major Attraction.
