New EPCOT DVC?

I don't usually complain, I'm a positive Disney fan but they are going crazy with DVC. I'd rather not see space for future attractions go to DVC. It seems as though a lot of people are buying in and enjoying it though.

Since we became DVC members, we find that we spend half the time we used to at the parks and the other half sleeping in more and enjoying the resort amenities.

If anything, the reality of an Epcot DVC will have to wait for development of the Ft. Wilderness DVC. The old River Country site needs to be rehabbed one way or another.

I believe the 'Spirit' suggested there was some financial requirements for this that may have pushed it back in line a bit.

I haven't seen them miss a beat yet. It seems that they always have another property waiting in the wings. As soon as Grand Floridian was nearing completion, they started work on the Polynesian. I'm willing to bet they announce the next DVC sooner than later.

A certain spirit has indicated a new DVC may be coming to WDW's second gate. Seems a rumor worthy of a thread of its own.

For some reason I read that and assumed you meant yet another selling station for "best kept secret" rather that a new property.

according to that thread and spirit, It will not be attached to world showcase, thank goodness. That plan was ditched due to expense and being problematic.

Spirit said no go for the DVC being incorporated with World Showcase. Too expensive. The most likely location would be somewhere near the front gate with its own dedicated entrance to the park. Spirit seems to have some idea of a possible theme, but he's not sharing just yet.

IMHO they would likely build something high rise (similar to BLT) so you would have views into the park and most importantly views of illuminations. I think it would be a big boost to sales to have it near the existing monorail station with perhaps even a direct private walkway connected to the station (similar to the skybridge at BLT). That would provide a monorail ride to MK with a short walk into EPCOT. If you have a hopper ticket you could cut through EPCOT and take the boat to DHS. It's a bit of a walk, but 3 out of 4 parks without a bus would be a big plus. The most obvious location to me would be where the existing bus stops are. There are a few backstage buildings that could probably be relocated and there would be a pretty decent unobstructed view between Seas and Land. Someone in the other thread mentioned behind WOL. @marni1971 is that an expansion pad?

I mentioned in the Spirit thread and will say again that it would be interesting to have a "monorail resort" on the Epcot line if they built it in the area near Bambi Lake. Wouldn't be as convenient as one right next to Epcot (walking distance) but would be able to have nicer theming and views.

I always thought it might go where they piled the wand scrap. Using some of the parking lot also. Seems like I remember a lot of space there.

Thats cool. As I have taken more trips to WDW I worry less about touring and spend more time at the resort. Its something a lot of people miss out on, the pools and bars are a lot of fun. I really need to learn more about DVC, I'm a bit confused on how it all works.

Purely speculating about the WoL area. the area you mentioned makes a lot more sense and would orient the building in such a way that the backside looks toward MK.

I think looking at google maps there would be enough space where the bus stops are for a high rise tower and a pool area. If they wanted to go with a lower, wider, more laid out resort the area on the other side by WOL has a lot more space. Either way I think they may need a parking garage for EPCOT. Parking on really busy days gets tricky already and you would be losing a piece of the existing parking lot either way.

I would hate hate hate hate to see them use space in the world showcase for hotel rooms, before adding hotel rooms to WS, it needs more countries and the countries that currently exist need attractions.

i'd be ok with it if they found a way to build them into new countries while at the same time adding attractions.

though I dont see how it would really be feasible at all or logical from a staffing logistics security standpoint, as they can't really allow guests to just wander around the WS all night long in order to get to/from the rooms, and i dont know what the true appeal would be if these were say small 20-25 room boutique hotels at the countries as they wouldn't have the same amenties as the bigger hotels such as pools/etc

Perhaps the dust off concepts for the Asian, Persian and/or Venetian resorts.

definitely something should be built along the seven seas lagoonn attached to the monorail between TTC & contemporary.

would be cool to see them complete the plan to expand seven seas lagoon to the west

Why not do what they did at Disneyland Paris...build the hotel right across the front ...it would attach to the monorail line (the monorail would pass through a section of it, the guests could have their own entrance into the park while not actually sitting in the park...so that would help with security issues. If designed correctly it could make a beautiful frame for the Spaceship Earth vista and have amazing views of the nighttime fireworks...
Just a thought...
