I always thought if you just put one of these in the corner then everything looks more Mary Poppinish.
The bartender can also just be a random vagrant themed as the tuppence-seeking bird lady. There’s still time to convert the bar into a nondescript gazebo. But keep the name and add a photo of Julie Andrews’ horse behind the bartender and some daffodils by the free water.
Ooooohhh! The bartender can also just be a random vagrant themed as the tuppence-seeking bird lady.
A Swiss overlay of the not-family-enough Yacht Club would be amazing.By virtue of the 20th Century Fox acquisition, Disney also owns The Sound of Music, so the Swiss theming of the Matterhorn could pull in some of Julie Andrews’ Maria
whatever comes of this I hope the underwhelming retheming resulting in an “In Case of Emergency Introduce Julie Andrews” becomes a meme within DisTwitter
Unproblematic? As expected, Carousel Cafe wasn’t complete and now has pictures of Julie Andrews along with succulents on the tables.
Stunning.
Insofar as Julie Andrews is entirely unproblematic, they should have just had pics of her in the carousel scene from Mary Poppins. Then the whole style of the place would at least make some sense.
To be fair, if you ask people, “what is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of New Jersey?” 9 out of 10 will say, “succulents.”
I’ve only seen “When You Wish Upon a Star”Unproblematic?
Do you know what song she famously sang to celebrate the opening of WDW in 1971?
Don’t tell the WDI scolds or they’ll rip the pictures off the walls.
Yep. It’s a picture from 1971, of an actress that gained fame the decade before, for portraying Maria in South of Music (1930s Austria) and Mary Poppins (turn of the century London). None of those time periods or eras captured the elements of the Boardwalk theming. Maaayyyybe Mary Poppins comes closest in terms of era, but they’re on the wrong continent. It’s just funny that within weeks the photos were changed to something THAT STILL ISNT ON THEME. Like WHY? It also seems to be a dead giveaway that the job was done by a third party; slap some photos on the wall to try to tell a story. They did the same at Beaches, Ale & Compass, Steakhouse71… cheap and lazy.
Also I’m not disagreeing she is unproblematic and an ICON of the highest order. She’s fantastic and always has been.I’ve only seen “When You Wish Upon a Star”
Perfectly said. Literally send someone to a flea market down the 192 to pick up some “old timey” things to put on some shelves and it’ll look a million times better. The pictures of Julie Andrews on the wall made my brain explode. WTH are they thinking? The seating area has been changed three times so far in terms of added decor. One of which only lasted a few days. What's absolutely amazing to me is the disconnect with what they think "theme" is. A vintage clock, hat stand, nick nacks, would rapidly theme this area to a 30's lounge, but this team thinks theme is park pics and Julie Andrews - and they still can't get it. This is a greater example of the problem facing Disney. Too many people in charge who don't understand the Disney difference.
